Maybe some guys stop seeing the game as feminazi leftist propaganda at least. lol

I don't really see that happening out side of blatant trolls on /v/, and they get quickly called out anyways

Absolutely agreed on its shortcomings regarding weapons variety and protagonist personality. It's this close to something next level.

Still a surprisingly solid experience as far as retro FPS throwbacks go, with intriguing opportunities for future gameplay patches and/or sequels."

So is there a console command or option that re enables texture filtering, or we have to wait for the shader?

I don't care what any of the reviews say. This is the first new game I bought in years. Best game of 2019 hands down.

I don't see why it would
I think Steam and GOG versions come out the same time

I bought mine from 3DR. Should I keep checking 3DR tonight or not bother until tomorrow?

I get where they're coming from, though. I was honestly expecting at least one new weapon besides the Clusterpuck that did some kind of significant damage and had a special "thing." But I guess that's what the bowling bombs are. Which is great. This game is still awesome and I'm not disappointed in the least. People do want a sequel though!

I wanna take a moment to post something sincere:

Your work is an achievement in and of itself. It may not be a perfect game, but it's a hell of a game. I'm proud of you all. I've been rooting you on for years now, and to see it grow over time has been awesome. You guys really did something special. While there is valid criticism out there, don't let the inevitable bullshit get to you. It's a good damn game. Can't wait to see what's next.

I recovered my old account just to say GREETINGS DUKE4 FORUMS. It's been too long. And Ion Fury has me reminiscing something fierce.

Yep, it's true that the arsenal is lacking, honestly it was pretty disappointing to hear that there is no BFG so guess the chaingun or the grenade launcher is your best weapon? Yeah, that's not great plus exotic weaponry is a staple of Build engine shooters. I'm not saying it should be Blood where most of the arsenal is uniquely weird but there should be an exotic weapon.

What I truly don't get is the missing power weapon though because I think the crossbow could have been a really great option for that. In the preview campaign it was just weird because compared to an energy powered precision weapon it sucked in damage output and its secondary fire was useless. It's not the Source engine where you can have fun with sticking enemies to walls, that thing should be a fucking railgun that gibs weaker enemies while the secondary should be a costly, slowly moving projectile that kills every motherfucker in the room if you shoot it with the primary fire. Bam, there's your power weapon, it's worth a damn now. :dukecigar:

Intricate weapon balance or not a classic shooter kinda needs that weapon that has limited ammo but you know that if you fire it things will die.

Edit: Just as kind of an example here's a bit of QCDE action with Duke I've recorded a while back:

See that railgun? You don't need a power weapon instead of that because it's amazing.

Greetings from me as well. What is truly awesome about this game is not being just another retro FPS. There are many retro FPS games with questionable quality and lukewarm efforts. It's a game where the devs understood how to make a retro FPS. You guys didn't pick the Unity engine and create a game with intentionally poor and dated graphics just to have a retro look. You picked an old engine made in 1995, and pushed its limits further (it has been said so many times, that the Build's limits had been reached, but it was always proven wrong... this beauty has no limits!). With this old engine you created something that looks modern in 2019 and might even attract new gen. players. This is something that might show the torchlight to the future developers how to make a retro game. Of course, massive work and concentration, dedication cannot be skipped, there is no easy job for success. But the payoff is massive as well.

I can see why some guys who only played Doom 2016 and Dusk be like 'Hey, this is not what I thought was great about oldschool FPS games!'. Those other retro inspired shooters are much more straight forward and tightly designed, kind of like rollercoaster rides. You have your little segments of exploration with world building and secret hunting and as soon as it starts to feel 'boring', you get thrown into an arena with hordes of enemies and metal music. True oldschool games (and Ion Fury is one of them) demand you to shoot and explore at the same time. That's a a part of your brain that needs to be trained :dukecigar: I love both design philosophies and am glad that there finally is a commercially sold product that is truly oldschool. It's just a shame that some critics don't see it this way...

Really nice video you had there, thanks for the kind words!

I don't care what any of the reviews say.

Some people watch them purely for the sake of entertainment, I'd say this is especially true in case of Gman whom it's pretty difficult to take seriously.

Speaking of which, I noticed there were a bunch of people who criticized level design which is kind of hard to understand where they're coming from, I find this complaint the most bullshit one, I bet if you asked those people what exactly is wrong with level design they would fail to say anything constructive, beyond just "it's bad, in *insert old FPS game* it's better". In Gman case it's no different, if we ignore his other videos, it's pretty curious that he complains about hitscan enemies being such a big deal in open areas while at the same time he failed to provide proper examples of such "problem", instead most of the time the guy tried to dodge projectiles, he even used shotgun to deal with enemies at long range which was rather amusing when he could use a bunch of other effective weapons, pistol is usually what I used personally when I wanted to take down long range enemies. Never thought of this particular thing about level design when played preview campaign, on high difficulty of course, enemies are much more dangerous in closed small areas.

Though aside from this and other nitpicking complaints that are mostly belongs to "IMO" category, I gotta agree about lack of more weaponry options, expected to see at least one new and devastating super gun, not BFG or some copy-cat weapon, but something else, unique, bonus points for an experimental devastating weapon that kind of existed in real life (on paper or not). Going to mention that I like how weapons are balanced, however, in a way that you have to use most of them, if not all. I actually like that a lot, most importantly I'm glad that pistol has more uses (which I mentioned before anyway). Shelly personality is probably not wrong either, but gotta play the full game to make sure.

Pretty much, haven't bought new games I would truly enjoy in years myself, not even fighting games.

Thank you all for the kind words. It wouldn't have been possible without the 3DR forums, Duke4.net , AMC forums, etc... so many great people keeping this engine alive. I hope we can return some of that to all of you with the game.

I hereby would like to request from the devs that if there is a coop mode it will be called "Two girls, one coop" because that's just too good of a title.

Also: a Christmas themed expansion that cures the wounds of Nuclear Winter. :dukecigar:

I'm guessing they're gonna patch in Shelly's "Personal Missile System" weapon once a month.
