How many versions and collections of Duke3D are going to be released within a year span? Isn't this like the third time?

When I go to the Steam store page of the collection it doesn't list Duke!ZONE II as part of the package. So, does that mean that it's included in the Megaton Edition through an update now?

It's part of the Duke Nukem 3D entry, along with the other three add-ons you don't see.

Couldn't they come up with another name for it?

There already is a Kill-a-Ton Collection:

This reminds me, I'm really hoping 3D Realms or another publisher will create a boxed version. Sure, the Internet today is much faster than it was in the 1990s, but downloading a game just doesn't feel the same.

I was curious about re-using a name in this case also... Especially since it differs from the original.
For newer Duke Nukem enthusiasts, this could lead to some confusion.

If your talking about steam it is three I believe Duke Nukem 3D Megaton, 3DRealms Collection, and This one Duke Nukem 3D KillATon Collection. not going to buy it since I own all the Duke Nukem Games on Steam really no point of me getting it, if it was like a Duke Nukem Heroic Collection with Duke64 Time to Kill Land of Babes Zero Hour I would buy instantly.

And No there is no Heroic Collection I made that up

I would have gone with a different name, too. Maybe "The Duke Nukem Legacy Pack" or "Duke Nukem - King of the World Collection."

Don't really see the big deal myself.

Obviously they chose the name because they wanted to refer the older collection. I see how it could be confusing though, as this one doesn't include Duke Xtreme.

I've got it! They could call it "Duke Nukem 3D: Hail to the King Collection"!

No one's using that, right?

From 3DRealms Boss https://www.facebook.com/mikesdnielsen

We've created these various versions as we've had some people ask for them. As for the old console versions, it's something we are always considering but we have nothing confirmed here yet.

It when I was asking about The 3 Duke Ports that you see on steam

There are only two. The 2015 Kill-A-Ton is a strict subset of the 3DR Anthology--there are no new game entries. It's just a smaller bundle.

Soon as I first saw this thread that's what I immediately thought this was and got all excited.

Why not Duke Nukem Milk-a-ton collection? I'm sure it wasn't used yet and it perfectly describes what they're doing (releasing the same game multiple times on a short span and on the same platform as different packages). :)

I can't wait for the re-re-re-release that will include all of the above plus never before seen beta maps.

While Sunstorm's own levels weren't that bad, and I liked the new enemies, the strongest reason to include it would be for the sake of completion.

As I told 3D Realms, "Duke Xtreme and the first Duke!ZONE are not suitable for inclusion because they are merely loose collections of maps."

I can't speak for 3DR, but theoretically there is nothing stopping them from updating the entry to include them at some point in the future. After all, Anthology owners got the four expansions included now in addition to the new Kill-A-Ton buyers.

However, I don't think they are currently willing to spend the resources to devise a cross-platform solution to list and launch all these loose maps, and that would be beyond the services I could offer as an unpaid favor (not to mention with the short turnaround that was requested).

I will see what I can do for HTTKC. No promises.

I am not sure about the legal status of selling content downloaded from the Internet. Even if there was no legal repercussion at the time, that doesn't mean someone could do it today, or should.

It usually is illegal. I remember most .WADs and .MAPs in the 90s included boilerplate README files that basically said at the bottom "Do not distribute for commercial use". Per the DMCA, that is grounds for legal action were someone to do so.

Now, whether or not the map author is able to win a court battle against these huge gaming companies, well, that's a horse of a different colour.

I havent played the Kill-A-Ton Duke3D yet, but Im assuming its meant to be a basic port mostly true to the source, if not just DOSBoxed. Really the best solution, if its a port, to adding those expansions is adding in the User Map function in episode selection and adding folders in the usermap folder specifically for those expansions... although that still doesnt solve Duke X-Treme's other features. Honestly Duke!Zone 2 isnt even worthy of inclusion, so worrying about those two mods really pales in comparison to me. Its 2015 and we literally have hundreds of better usermaps you could play, even without Eduke32.
