The Tutorials & Resources Thread on 3D Realms is 3 pages packed full of really useful information for mod authors. Something with that much information obviously can't go to waste, so I'm going to start bringing information over from it. If anyone else would like to help, it would be very much appreciated. Please try to refrain from discussion posts (unless you need to point something out) until we've brought over as much as we can.

Anything that has been uploaded to the 3D Realms forums directly will be put forward to be hosted on Duke4.net's downloads section.

Thanks for grepping some of that info from the original thread and putting it here. Hopefully the 3DR forums don't go down any time soon as there are 55 some odd pages of threads just in the Duke Nukem 3D Modifications forum alone and there is a TON of good info in some of them.

I'm not sure if I'm even supposed to post in this thread. But if anyone knows a batch MD3 animation frame re-namer, would you kindly point me to it.

I'm using MilkShape 3D for modeling and it has no functionality to choose a range of frames and give them names (like idle0 through idle28). I'm currently using the NMD3C tools and going through each frame manually and typing names for them and it gets really tedious for models with over 100 frames, especially if I need to go back and correct the animation/model.

Honestly, I find it much easier to edit the .def file with find and replace!

But if anyone knows of something that would do that, it would be great!

Here are two threads that "should" help you,

Heh, why not have a mapping tutorial in here as well? The Informational Suite at Duke Repository could serve that purpose:

Mapping tutorials are great, too. I'm trying to figure out how to sort everything in this thread so that it's easier to find what you're looking for. I might ask Yatta about making another section on the website for modding resources.

He really should. We can include old FAQs and create archival versions of many things. We can also link to the EDuke32 Wiki, and possibly edit some of the pages in old FAQs to link to relevant Wiki pages.

Making a comprehensive list isn't that difficult, just have enough titles, subtitles, lay-out and whatnot. Gotta admit the OP is quite chaotic at this point.

I agree with Sang, its a bitch to read through. Yattix really needs to open up an area JUST for modding resources. Also, I think that the High Resolution Pack could benefit from its own little area.

Making to many sub forums is actually kinda counter productive if you ask me. Just more work to keep track of the discussions IMO.

Maybe lists of tutorials etc could be added to the HRP and eduke32 wikis and simply discussed in this thread. That way the lists of links could be kept in a more readable and easy to access maner.

With Yatta's help I've actually begun work on a section on the main site here. I'd be a lot further on it if my power and Internet weren't knocked off for hours. ;) I'm going to do my best to organize it in a way that makes sense and is easy to navigate.

32bit only.

I've got 32bit installed and it tells me that it's not proper for this version.
3ds max 9 and 2009 aren't the same, are they?

nope. (... 7 -> 8 -> 9 -> 2008 -> 2009 -> 2010 ...) I guess they didn't like 3dsmax 10.

The one linked is for 2009 32bit. Doesn't seem to work with max 2009 32bit on vista 64 though.

It also doesn't work for Design 2009 either. :)

I have it on 2009 32 bit and I'm using XP. And this goddam 3ds shit says that it's not a script for this version. :)

And Commander, what is 'Design' version? :D

It's more of an architect version, in simple terms I guess.

Bah, the guy who made it on 3DR said it was for 2009 32 bit, I know it works on 2008 though. :)

If you export to 3DS, you can open it in NMD3C (read above) and from there you can export an MD3. I don't know if the model still works correctly or not.

I have enough programs, my workflow now is like:
Blender -> Maya -> Motionbuilder -> Maya -> 3ds MAX... i don't want to use more :)
I'll get a previous version of 3ds.
