Duke3D HRP: new/updated art assets thread "Post and discuss new or updated textures/models for the HRP here"

I hope it helps.
I copied and pasted the part that looks like the tile.. and flipped it and I got the duke tile pretty much.
Looks like there's some erosion going on that's not in the high res pack versions.
About the gun again.. well I wasn't saying make it blingy shiny just a little more so it'll have a bit more highlights to it and you can see the detail a little more.

I am no expert either but yeah this looks pretty solid for a glock. Don't change a thing TM it looks perfect the way it is
In fact TM what do you think of this?

Tea Monster, The handgun looks amazing! Do you or Roma Loom have any plans to do a shotgun aswell?
Devastator and handgun are awesome! Can't wait to see if any more weapons get a make over

That is indeed interesting .... it would be awesome if we could just find a really high res picture of that artwork and just use that.
maybe that's what the low res version is supposed to look like when mirrored ... I can't be sure though , maybe the duke artists changed it slightly?
I haven't worked on this for a while ... kind of putting it on hold , untill I know exactly what to work with.
but you could be on to something with that ... see what everyone else thinks ...
@ Tea Monster
I liked the old skin better just because the skin looked allot closer to the spirit ..
it doesn't really fit into Duke 3d if the handle is black

But for the original skin, maybe just match the grey/ black colour of the spirit, and add a little more sharpness to edging or something... guess just have to wait to see the final gun in game to get a full idea

Well i will be releasing a whole texture pack. S.W.A.T piggys, variant weapons, New posters and signs, and as some of you may remember from my original texture pack i do not shod my work out. These will all of course be optional. But i would like it very much so if anyone who makes a new main model for the HRP (Weapons, Babes, Enemies etc) could you please send me a copy of the Skin so i have something to work with. I have already started work and i hope you will all like the alternate pack. I am not going to make a thread until i am nearly done.

I think I'm finished with the skins. I'll be using the same for the HUD and the Pickup. I'll send you a copy.

Yeah I couldn't find that image in google image search and only found it in a rar'ed Giger art pack. It's pretty hard to find and to be honest I'm not sure where it's from or if it's in one of his art books. But if it is to get a super high res version one may have to use that and scan it in themselves perhaps. I'm a big Giger fan (I have a Li II statue next to my computer) so I couldn't resist looking that up. An even higher resolution version of that image may be great even just as an even better reference for making a sculpted tile.

No problem. I'll be releasing the pick up soon, which will be the same model as the HUD, so you try it out yourself. I have some smoothing group issues to work out yet. But yeah, send the skin and I'll load it up.
I didn't comment on the pistol as it didn't load last time I viewed the page. It looks pretty cool.
I was going over the design and I think that it is very close to a Glock, but with a few differences. The slide is larger and the top of the rail is lower. The back of the slide is different too. My original pistol is a pretty straight Glock clone (a friend of mine had a real one and I basically copied it!). I started out making a nice smooth version of the glock and quickly found out that there were a lot of problems when compared to the 'real' Duke pistol.
I hear what people are saying about the dark skin. The skin is pretty dark at the moment. I think its the glossy component of the metal shader that is causing to look a lot lighter. It's a pretty simple matter to darken it further. In the second shot, the grip is supposed to look like rubber.
Ozz - I could try a sculpt of the tile, but I've got two other models to do for other Duke mods, and I've got at least 3 other models on the go for other projects, so I'm kinda loathe to take yet another project on at the moment. I'll see what I can do though.

Yeah whenever you have time ...
I've put that one on hold for the moment it was doing my head in, maybe it would be best to just to sculpt the whole thing... its quite hard creating something quite complex in photoshop ... it didn't seem that hard at a glance until I attempted it.
I might just leave the complex ones up to the modellers, you guys seem to know what your doing.

This one is great! The detail on the part that's in the tile is much better and you can see the details it's supposed to have much clearer!
Here I did to it what I did to that one I found:

I hope you delete all the polygons that are invisible from the player´s viewpoint for introducing it into the game. Otherwise it would be quite demandant for the computer.

I don't think so ...
They were used in the secret area with the star trek control room, and everything was broken ... can't seem to find an unbroken in the original art file either...
speaking of monitor textures
Allot of the monitors should be redone.. like #0297
Is anyone planning to do these sometime? .
