Except the doman was registered a day BEFORE the news of 3DR closing

Are you sure it was the day before?
Remember that people in different parts of the world are in different time zones.

I'd forgotten what day exactly the 3DR stuff was rumored

It was created the same day

Ran across this somewhere, don't know if it's on here but it's all the high-res renders and screenshots yet, many I hadn't seen. Includes the stupid plot spoiler too, so ignore that folder if you so choose (as I do)

Temporarily closing this beast until new info surfaces. Do NOT start a new thread.

Something is going on, more info coming to 3DR soon I guess.

A certain Jeff Shenk works for this company. The same guy who registered the savedukenukem.com site. Interesting.

I really don't think this is a marketing campaign, but if it is, its the most ingenious marketing campaign ever.

All publicity is good publicity, the bigger the noise thats made...

Like whats been said before, they really didn't need to advertise it like this, if it (most likely isnt) is.

I mean, the simple white text ITS DONE on the main page would've completely fucking sold it.

The buzz of a normal campaign for a well known game works. For something like Duke, something that has been out of the spotlight for years, it wouldn't work as well. If true this could create huge buzz, and it doesn't make sense for this Jeff Shenk guy to create the website, unless it is a marketing campaign.

I still only have this being advertisement at the back of my mind

It's a pretty heartless thing though. It's like "These guys are now unemployed and need to find work to feed their family... LOL JUST KIDDING FUCK THAT WE FINISHED THE GAME HERE NOW GIVE US MONEY ROAR"

Well the whole point of making the game is to move as many copies as possible. I'm sure 3DR didn't just want to do an ordinary advertising campaign with their extraordinary game. They wanted to do something completely different than anything ever seen. If this is a marketing campaign, it WILL be successful, and already has been IMHO.

I doubt this is a marketing campaign but I have a small bit of optimism that we will be playing Duke Nukem Forever on the machine (PS3, PC) of our choice.

I'm surprised a lot of those flooding the 3DR boards haven't migrated west to here...

Thats a good thing

All they're doing is spamming with pointless stuff not directly relating to DNF.

But if this thing were to be a "marketing tactic", why wouldn't they wanted people to just comment about the closure?

It's like, ok, that's it.

I mean, it could cause people to loose all the interest made with the closure.

OBJECTION!!

It's a contradiction!

The news of 3DR closing came on May 6, which was a day before May 7. They're wrong. ;)

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but I'm from the 3DR forum.. don't worry, I'm not here to spam, I just feel so empty with the other thread being locked. I honestly feel like a piece of my childhood is slowly being pulled out from under me. I don't know how many hours I spent daily, for YEARS as a child being obsessed with Duke and the rest of the 3DR family. These events have truly hit me pretty damn hard, and one could only wish that 3DR doesn't dissolve, but without any word from the heads, one can only have grim thoughts towards the future of 3DR and DNF... poor duke ;)

Remember this:-

It was even stickied at 3DR forum. Some truth in there now it seems.

3DR ritually sacrificing a virgin on the company webcam would generate a boatload of publicity as well and any kind of publicity is good publicity, right?
Don't mean to direct this at you personally, but it seems that a lot of the conspiracy nuts believers pay no regard to any kind of ethical standard on the part of 3DR whatsoever.

Either way, we haven't seen any valid facts about that conspiracy being true. And we saw a shitload of facts that people were let go.

Conspiracy theories must have at least some strange facts that fuel their possibillity. I haven't seen those here. Just the general "it can't be" and "I don't believe".

Yeah that's true, but hasn't it already been said that the game used another engine and was yet again restarted in 2006?

They should do that, it'd be way awesome, even if only staged.

Well that it could be true since the article was the first to state it used Unreal 3.

My idea

Microsoft buy 3DRealms and DNF. DNF is esclusive 360 and is announced at E3

http://www.gameguru.in/microsoft-xbox-360/...ne-2-microsoft/

IS DNF
