27 cars today. On both days, George's was among them. A couple of guys--didn't recognize them, but they had long hair and looked like developers ;)--were talking outside the front door.

Oh, and in the corner was a little bus that looked like a bus for a retirement village. Could Old Duke have been putting in an appearance?

I desperately hope that they're not just closing up the office or having job fairs. Maybe they're still trying to do something. ;) Keep updating us on the situation in front of the office! It's reassuring to know that something is going on there, and the office isn't just sitting abandoned already.

I think its totally cool that Ras lives right by the offices. Its really awesome to have somebody to give us updates like that, even if some others may think its silly.

Ras can you take a photo of the building and its parking tomorrow to analyze it? ;)

Just for fun, since it seems there is no other new info or something to discuss

No. Care to elaborate?

Yes. The interview also went a bit like this (if I remember correctly (which I do)):-

Q. ??

A. Actually we have visited each others premises on semi regular occasions over the years and have become really good friends.

That's all I remember at the moment sorry.

Also just found this (no new info):-

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/05...till-coming.ars

Also a thought about the game. Whilst watching the new video footage, the part where Duke is ripping off a horn from a boss, (cycloid emperor?) it seems clear that this QTE would be best suited for an analog pad of a console and it seems that this was done with that in mind, adding more fuel to the fire that this game was always intended for the 360 since 2006.

Hey guys I live by 3drealms studio too and I saw a big dumpster with take-twos logo on it and george and joe were shoveling money out of it into a pile in front of the building. You guys can trust me.

Since Ras allegedly saw human beings outside 3DR HQ I was quite inclined to buy into this whole conspiracy rumor, but the fact that those said guys had long hair is what totally won me over and I am now without a doubt 100% convinced that we're being "played" by 3DR and they will give us a "Psyche- we fooled you! DNF has gone gold!!" announcement at any moment.

Don't sigh. Every cloud has a silver lining (oh no, I'm starting to sound as positive as Rockmx8) and think, what does a job fair lead to? Jobs, that's what. Jobs at 3DR. 6 month contract jobs. Lower paid skeletal staff to polish this off for release. Ras should attend, undercover of course ;)

I never said there was a conspiracy. I never tried to make more of it than what I saw. You can think I'm making it up, but I'm not sure what I would gain from it. I'm mainly interested in seeing how long it'll be before there are only a couple of cars there. I know Joe and Bryan have said they are there until next Friday. I'm curious to know if the following week will be when the building is more or less empty.

I find it interesting that Richard Huenink in his linkedIn has 3d realms October 2006 ? Present (2 years 8 months and not 8 May as other developers, and he also mentions "Working on Duke Forever".

It probably means nothing, but do you think some developers said OK, we will work "for free" from our houses (its not for free really since they expect their money sometime in the future if dnf comes out), until we find another job or on our free time???

It's not that far-fetched as a scenario and it's a win-win situation for them also if DNF was indeed close to completion....

Is this guy nuts? Yeah, I'm just going to start sending Jeff money. Once he gets affiliated with 3DR or Take2, I'm sure he'll get it right over to them.

So, I just called 1800-3DREALMS to see if they had any merchandise left for sale (which they usually never really have anyway).. The woman that answered didn't say 3DRealms, she said 'Apogee Software.' Can anyone tell me, did they traditionally answer the phone with '3D Realms'? It's been so many years since I've called, I can't really remember if they did or not.. That being said, I almost feel like with the completion of DNF, 3DRealms will be closing and re-emerging as the newly re-opened Apogee software. Thoughts?

3d Realms' legal name is "Apogee Software, Ltd." In business communication, they have to identify themselves as that.

Come on ;) He says he loves Duke Nuke'm, and registered the domain name on the first hint of trouble, and works on other websites selling stuff.

Of course he'd give the money back ;)

HOLY EFFING HELL. That guy is crazy as a S.O.B. reading his stuff he wants to buy the IP outright. hahahahahahaha how is he ever gonna afford to buy that with fan money? Let alone if somebody is dumb enough to donate a dollar to him. ....ok there might be a few.

LOL at this Jeff guy. I emailed him yesterday asking about the website, and this was the response he sent to me today:

Frank,

What's it to you??

Just kidding. When I heard that 3D Realms closed its doors,I thought of starting a grass-roots type of campaign to get/acquire the rights to the game's Intellectual Property. If that was accomplished, then perhaps it might be fitting to take the project Open Source. I thought "SaveDukeNukem.com" could be a hub for information, fund raising, and possibly a code repository for the project. Anyway, it's all very pie in the sky at the moment.

May I ask why you are interested?

Best,
Jeff

Seeing that he has updated his website kind of makes me laugh. Apparently this is a dead end as far as the marketing scheme goes. Just another scumbag trying to make a buck off of the uneducated. Save your money Babe!!!!!!!!!!

Then there would be two completely separate companies known as Apogee, both making Duke Nukem games??

And I thought it was confusing before......

I just did a whois on www.apogeesoftware.com for the hell of it.. this is what came up.

Registrant:
Apogee Software, Ltd.

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: APOGEESOFTWARE.COM

Domain servers in listed order:
NS.3DREALMS.COM

If I do a whois on www.3drealms.com, it provides the same results.

That's because Apogee Software limited is 3drealms.

Apogee Software, LLC is not.

Very complicated to follow, IMHO.

Ok so, let me try to get this straight.. Apogee Software, LTD had a sub-division called 3DRealms.. Right so far?
So now, 3D Realms appears to be closing it's doors, but at the same time, Apogee Software, LCC launched.. So if I am right thus far, my next question would be.. are the owners of Apogee LCC the same previous owners as Apogee LTD? The info I pasted below from Apogee LCC's website would at least lead me to believe so.. especially since they are using Duke.

"After a 13 year absence, Apogee Software is ?Back in Action? as a publisher will continue its proud tradition of bringing top quality PC games direct to the consumer via digital distribution while at the same time expanding its publication muscle into next generation consoles.

Apogee Software, LLC, is a privately held Texas limited liability company, with a core team of industry experts in game development, publishing, and distribution. Apogee publishes original content for retail distribution of games for the PC and next generation consoles and handhelds."

... yet, reading this would lead me to believe that Apogee LCC is more for publishing/distribution than actual game design/creation. So could DNF actually be released under a diff title, by Apogee LCC to get past the Take-2 deal? Damn this is all confusing, please bare with me.

More than likely the company filed for bankruptcy protection Chapter 13. It allows them to restructure the company and possibly apply for a credit line until the game is done.

Like I said many times, 12 years is un-reasonable to complete a game (even it's self-funded), and Take 2 as a business must decide whether it should risk capital on product that has really been viewed
by anyone.

That said, IMHO 3drealms is dead (as a developer), however what developer or company that emerges from this is not (whoever it may be). George is probably trying to get people to hype the game so he can convince an entity to afford him the capital to finish the game. Why else would he be silent about all the leaks? There is the stipulation of NDA's that the developers agreed to but it's safe to say most of that no longer applies.
