The gun has three to four perspectives. The angles are wrong. It almost 'curves' to the left.

The gun in the prequel shots and the gun in all of the media released for Bombshell are the same mesh.

View PostCorvin, on 09 January 2016 - 01:58 PM, said:

That's cool your using the same mesh. Not sure why it's looking like that tho.

All looks promising!

It probably just needs to be properly positioned horizontally or something. I assume it's all WIP since the ad says late 2016.

Correct.

Everyone should keep in mind that neither of these shots were actually prepared for release... Fred just felt like teasing people. They're literally shots where a mapper needed to revise an area, made the changes, and posted them on a private message board asking whether the changes were appropriate. Very, very WIP. An actual reveal of the game will occur sometime later this year.

Any chance of saying who is all working on the project?

We aren't quite ready to share those details yet, beyond Fred's previous mention that Evan and I are part of it. Soon, though!

Why are we being so critical of beta footage of the first new official commercial Build game in two decades with content made by the extremely talented people in this very community running on EDuke32?

Because they're no longer just fan artists. They're professional commercial developers.

Developers who were not consulted before these images were shared with the public. Everything about them is pre-WIP.

Ah. Then that's different. Still, I'm enticed.

I need to work with certified professionals who have been very demanding! They have completely ignored statements of work in progress and have been very judgemental. In comparison I would say these media releases have been treated 1000 times better. I cannot speak for you guys but I know my work was ripped to pieces so badly they broke their own certifying body standards in the process. The big joke is I was being held to professional standards of finished work when they weren't even capable of attaining this standard themselves. I know because I kept catching them out.

I don't involve myself with developing at all now but I like critique and architectural discussions. I've really kept out of this though because I know people don't like being criticised and don't want to sound like a nag. I'm also surprisingly bored by this. Listening is cool too if it's just to suss what is worming through you guys minds.

Being honest I like the work displayed in the screenies for what it is. It's a little stale for my tastes. You could do much better with a better editor. *cough*

You mean Eduke32 is not good? Or you are talking about the whole Build engine?

Just go look at their User Interface Tweaks thread.

I'm really just suggesting the interface shell. Basically, modern GUI with light refactoring to accommodate this and perhaps a little tune up around the edges. EDuke32 and the engine are good for what they are but for some things the casual user will run into a vertical wall. Some of the kinds of functionality I know the editor can support (either with internal C code or plugins) isn't currently supported or if implemented then perhaps not in the most accessible way.

I personally wouldn't suggest completely new code or a complete refactoring. This would be an impossible waste of time. Longer term an outline plan for refactoring over time on an item by item basis but I wouldn't recommend or choose more than this if for no other reason than to avoid mistakes like 3DR or Core Design made with engine and tools development.

I halted at the feasibility stage once I got the answers I was looking for. I kinda should more seriously pick up the mapping I wanted to do. I'm just a bit busy with other life priorities at the mo but from examining what the DN3D engine baseline was capable of and trying a couple of things I knew I could achieve what I was hoping to achieve. It's just a lot of work involving a stack of tools and roundtrips and testing which a modestly revamped editor could provide by default.

It's hard to comment without being specific and I'm not completely utterly sure of resource management or performance issues and how things work in practice especially from an artistic point of view. I do perceive though some fairly modest kinds of changes of emphasis can broaden artistic possibilities.

Things are 90% there on a general basis. I just think the extra 10% is worth examining.

So a different interface with more tools to help casual users would be relevant to this project how?

Please don't attempt to drag your other thread all over this board. Keep it OT.

Heh, WTH.

Anyhow back to Bombshell Prequel; giving feedback to the developers of the Prequel game now helps them and us consumers out in the end. We know the Prequel will be decent already, in no way was I intend to be critical of the images, just feedback.

^ same as Corvin, my spoiler embedded comment is and was directed at one person only and should be read in it's context.

Either way, I am looking forward to Bombshell. Posted Image

*pout*

I'm not critiquing this especially after previous comments explaining Bombshell prequel is work in progress. I do hope though (without drumming expectations too high) the Bombshell prequel is a showcase project?

So is there any new footage with the new voice actress? Like I said, I thought the previous one was fine.

Looking forward to hear gamers opinion about this game.

However, still no pre-orders available and no release date for consoles.. No more PC master race for me after I started school again. :)

Why is there nothing on Steam about pricing if it's releasing in a week?

Because they are not doing pre-orders this time around

Ah okay.. I understood that as: ''you cannot pre-order the prequel''. Thanks Lunick.

I'm not 'in the know' about the prequel but I am not sure we will hear much more about that until we're in the Q3-Q4 period.

Looking forward to LGR's review. He's certainly someone who appreciates 3D Realms history and legacy. Launches this week!
