Bombshell

#1201

If 3D Realms is publishing/producing a new Sin game developed by the new Ritual then a HL3 release this year would be quite suitable. Games in those two franchises tend to be releases around the same time....

I'd welcome a new SiN in a heartbeat. I love Emergence and wished it went on longer/new episodes were made. I also just hope they keep similar open level design with all that interactivity.

Well, if they do another SiN, they need to have Blade's voice back. That is a must.

He definitely needs to talk more than just context sensitive moments of him saying "Whatsup JC?"

I've wanted a new SiN since forever, but I want it to be the SiN I remember from Emergence cause I liked that game much better than the original.
I don't want Interceptor making it though, I don't wanna see mediocre gameplay, boring levels, political correctness and jokes about how many Blades it takes to screw in a light bulb.

Also if Elexis isn't the video game version of Bianca Beauchamp again, the game is an instant 0/10.

She first has an obligation to do a guest appearance in a Duke map.

i have to say I think the worst sin of Bombshell right now...

It looks rather dull to me, to be honest. That saddens me to say, too. I guess it's just i'm not a big fan of the isometric perspective, and I never really have been.

Who owns SiN the rights to SiN? Is this an UE4 release?

I remember reading a couple of years ago that Ritual got bought by some dumb games company, those that make games for facebook or suchs. I remember the lines by ritual, a sad brainwash of how happy they was to work on those cool quick games. They made an awesome game for its time, Sin but had the bad luck of being occluded by half life (which was of course better). Sin Episodes Emergence was good too, it´s a shame they couldnt continue it.

Giving Interceptor the responsibilty of re-visiting/continuing it would be unfortunate for the saga. I consider they have a record of bad choices.

On January 24, 2007, developer MumboJumbo announced the acquisition of Ritual Entertainment. With this acquisition, Ritual's focus on traditional action-oriented games was changed to casual games, essentially "stalling" Ritual's latest game series, SiN Episodes, after releasing only one episode out of a planned nine.

When Sin Gold was released on GOG it was published by Ritual, not Mumbo Jumbo. See the post by "winningatlife" here: https://m.reddit.com...ased_on_gogcom/

You know what REALLY needs to comeback with a sequel? Kingpin.

That would be a very interesting one, but it needs to be well and truly polished. I think Kingpin suffered just from being so janky. Even more janky than the original SiN or Blood 2.

Plus, that opening area, it really needed to be a little more clear to the player just what kind of game you were getting into. How many times i've heard stories of people who tried it and gave up after that first area because they kept getting their asses kicked, being so used to Doom, Quake, Duke, and at the time Quake II.

That and Deus Ex had unforgiving first levels.
I was amazed at how fairly open Kingpin ended up being; you had a little hub area that branched off into a bar where you get missions and hire bodyguards, a pawn shop where you buy weapons and items, and usually two separate levels you end up fighting through. It was almost like an RPG in a way, except the levels were really tiny.
The level design and some of the architecture was awesome as well. SiN had some good stuff, too.

The Kingpin team was super talented. After the game flopped, Xatrix Entertainment reassembled as Gray Matter and created the single player campaign for RTCW. They were working on a cool looking shooter called Trinity before Activision cancelled it, and absorbed studio into Treyarch.

How to handle a Bombshell: Reviewing the reviews

Quote

We reached out to Interceptor Entertainment CEO Frederik Schreiber to learn how the studio has reacted to and handled the game’s mixed media reception:

“(Firstly) I’d like to make clear that a great many of the bug-related issues reported by these reviews were known issues that we were still in the process of fixing at the time we distributed review builds (of Bombshell) to the media. We advised reviewers that they were getting an advanced version of the game, and that that all known bugs would be fixed before the game went live for purchase.

(So) we were actually quite surprised that reviewers dinged us so hard for these bugs, because we had the vast majority of them fixed when (Bombshell) went on sale. Which isn’t the same as shipping a buggy game and then day-one patching it – the game we shipped didn’t have most of the bugs we got criticised for. In this sense, we learned a hard lesson: You can not let reviewers have a copy of the game until all the bugs are out,” says Schreiber.

...isn't that kind of obvious? Games can get away with having a few issues/bugs on launch these days but Bombshell (like Rise of the Triad) started with a bit more than "a few" so reviewers couldn't ignore it.

For some reasons I think they never learned such things from RotT 2013... :dukeaffirmative:

My friend just told me about he refunds his Steam copy of Bombshell due to he didn't like the keyboard+mouse control, just too unresponsive...and I think he's right, but I can handle that... :)

Man what the hell, people will get refunds under just any excuse on Steam.

That's the only major problem with digital distribution. But it's hard to approach, especially with GoG because it's completely DRM-free.

Also, how did you manage to get a "psychical" copy of SW and does it entail controller-less play? :dukeaffirmative: :)

Are you serious? Because I tried to get a refund for Doom 3 BFG Edition on Steam (it doesn't run on either my PC or laptop) and they didn't want to give the money back. My copy of Doom 3 BFG Edition was retail, so I activated through Steam.

Steam changed it's refund policy much later after the release of Doom 3 BFG.
People say it's much easier now to get a refund (there's some new rules for that like only 2 hours of playtime and 15 days-ish after purchase)

Actually as far as I remember, I got SW and Blood from GOG because never played them before and wanted to play them but they were glitchy and then I bought a copy of SW from eBay and that one worked perfectly fine. I guess I could say that I prefer psychical copies over digital copies. That's why I (almost) never bother with digital copies of games. :dukeaffirmative:

I see you didn't get my joke. I was poking fun at your misspelling of "physical" as "psychical", meaning a psychic version. That's why I joked about playing controller-less. As in using your mind instead.
