No point in filling this thread with attacks.

I hope I understand correctly but I think talks of a 'repository' is going on the new 3dr website?

I am also wondering if there are any sprites of the famous snake head that got replaced by the sentry drone? Would be interesting to see

Okay thanks, I must have missed that part. Also regarding the snake head, a quick Google search revealed this (bottom in the pictures section) that's the only sprite I have seen of it though. I knew I had seen something of it when you mentioned it.

I think there was one still of the sprite. Someone had posted it over in the topic of misc knowledge thread, somewhere, I think.

So the Battlelord encounter was supposed to take place in the space episode? Or is it just a regular Mini Battlelord enemy depicted here?

I'm probably wrong, but I always got the impression that the battlelord fight was intended to take place aboard his ship which was in space originally.

Battlelord was the original inhabitant of the Overlord's man-cave.

That's a nice pic of Battlelord and Duke.

Are they both trying to be a version of "Occupied Territory"? Weird that they'd originally plan a boss fight in that room.

I've always thought that the Battlelord looked like a pumped-up version of the Enforcer; I guess it would be logical if they both made their appearance in the same episode.

How is it that the news of 3DR beta material being made public hasn't been posted on the duke4.net front page yet???

When it is posted, it should probably use this as the main image:

I didn't even see the original material used for the L.A sky until just now Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

^ This. Well said, Mickey. I can't wait for these Duke betas to become available. I'd make an even bigger mess if ROTT betas and alphas were released, though it seems less likely since Apogee Software, LLC still owns the rights to it. B)

Judging by all the images i've seen, the Duke model seems to lack individual fingers. That's interesting, given how detailed the models seem to be.

It looks like that one section in Occupied Territory (I think) where you fight two mini Battelords. You can see the ramp and the door with the Battlelord skull in the background.

Beaten to it.

BTW, the shareware version splash screen also shows the Cycloid Emperor in a space environment. But the shareware teaser text may be also interpreted in a way that suggests both episodes 2 and three may have been supposed to take place in space (space station in Ep. 2 and lunar base in Ep. 3).

I forgot about that picture as I only remembered the concept art! Very odd looking thing B)
"When its HP would reach zero, it would attempt to collide and explode into the player as a last ditch move." sounds very interesting, I wonder if that attack ever made it into the game? Would add quite a bit of difficulty!

It's probably just an early render of episode 1 ending scene, which takes place in space for whatever reason.

I think the Emperor was in space for cutscenes, but you never fought him until episode 3. He's the damn Emperor, he must have access to the space areas lol.. I doubt he waited at that football field the entire damn time B)

And that the images there were for advertisement.

So I'm guessing there might be a few unused (possibly unfinished) cutscenes?

If that's the case, does the mean the boss order is different in the original? What were the boss orders pre-final?

In other news, the LA night skybox is a scan from a book or a magazine.

I'm sorry if that was already done but I put these scans in my photoshop and merged them together

And for my own personal use I auto colored it which made it look nicer for my taste

I don't think that should be taken as a sign that they planned a boss fight there. To me, that's just a promo pic and they tried to make a cool looking scene in a cool looking environment. The promo pics of Duke It Out In DC have the episode 2 boss roaming around the subway map and I don't believe Sunstorm ever planned a bossfight there, it just looks cool.

I could be wrong though.

Except the first one is a render from a cutscene, not a "place enemies here and let's make a render for a magazine" type render. I dunno.

They have the Overlord everywhere in DC promo pics.

Duke's pose here is suspiciously similar to the one on the level tally screens. Could the fallen Battlelord be present on the Ep. 2 tally screens just to remind the player how cool Duke was (after beating Ep. 1)?

Then again, the victory pose could have been used on the tally screens just because it looked good, without any relation to the Battlelord fight.

I think I saw an animated version of the Battlelord level intermission screen, yeah. Don't quote me on that, though.

I did not think of this possibility until you mentioned it MrFlibble! Looks very likely as it suites the look very well. If not it still looks awesome. B)

I'm pretty certain this is more of a trivial matter now, but I'll still repeat what I've asked a while ago at 3D Realms Forums: are the old, illegally leaked beta versions of Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior (v0.99 and v.090 respectively) going to get an official permission to be distributed?

I submitted all of the leaked betas from Lon Matero's site to Fred for the official archives, and I've been thinking it would be a snap to release them with official blessing.

These are cool, except for one thing: JPEG. Could you repost a PSD --> PNG conversion? (before you ever converted the images to JPEG)

Odd, as I have never converted them to JPEG. Seems to be Imgur doing that to the pics.
I have uploaded the original PNG files as an attachment.

It makes sense to a degree, why bother modeling something you'll probably never have a chance to see up close?

It also explains why the "mark 2" (as I call it) Duke model was made for Episode 2-4 cinematics.

Why the Blood version of Duke there? I'm pretty sure it's not a 3D Realms asset.
