We're planning monthly releases with interviews with 3DR devs, walkthroughs, etc.

Few questions about the new 3DR website, will we have to make new forum accounts(cause I hate my Wesker500 name now) and will the original 3DR website & forum be archived?

The Apogee forum should be kept at least. There's quite a bit of neat information in there that would be valuable for the future.

Sweet. The old forums look pretty old and crusty compared to other forums.

Well, I'm actually working on a weapon sprite for one of those SMGs (the big one, and probably the other one as well when I get the big one finished) so I had to take a pretty close look at it on some high-res versions of the pictures. I can definitely tell you that both the guns appear to be models/renders.
Speaking of which, I'm almost absolutely certain the wrist-gauntlets on the retail version of Shadow Warrior are models as well. I wonder if any of the stuff is still intact somewhere?

A Book Illustrator, who's running an Art Gallery today. There are no 3D models in these illustrations.
All of the covers were directed by Robert Atkins, who was behind all marketing assets for Duke 3D.
He later co-founded Ritual.

Hrm, I stand corrected then - maybe I confused it with some fanmade restoration.

Could you release the Endangered Species cover art in HQ ? I really love all the Duke Nukem art by Robert Grace. Great artist ! (Oh, and if you can release other artworks done by him, it would be cool too. )

Before there is any more confusion, the daily zip files in this image only contain maps.

Still a very nice find. They could be used to track nearly every detail that was changed in a map after a certain date.

Is it known who exactly did all the file archiving routines at Apogee/3D Realms back in the 90s?

I knew the public part of the story etc... but I don't ever remember seeing this image.
... and that is a really good question.

I'm quite interested in the Doom and Strife betas, and was curious what the current situation regarding them was. Have id Software or Zenimax been contacted yet? And if they've denied permission to release the Doom content, would screenshots be out of the question? I plan to start a petition if they've denied permission.
Also, I'm sure you're aware that Strife is an orphaned work, and I don't know how this would affect any kind of release of its betas. Both the developer and publisher went defunct shortly after Strife was released, and nobody seems to have a clear idea of who owns what. id/Zenimax probably own partial rights to the code, given its basis on the Doom engine.
Aside from all of that, thank you for sharing this with the public, it's awesome! Crazy how Duke 3D was almost an entirely different game early on.

Also, I know that you can't release any Blood material, so here's something new (and legal) for all the Blood fans here. It's the high resolution, pre-release box art for the Cryptic Passage add-on.
This comes with it's original E397 press release. Enjoy!

I would appreciate suggestions from anyone who has experience in this area.
I use TexView to look inside exe files. When I see a string that triggers my attention, I load the file in IDA 5.0 freeware (or an older version that can handle 32-bit DOS code better) and start disassembling.
I also use the DOSBox debugger. For example, when I used it to play Bubble Bobble, I saw the game tried to open the file beta.dat that didn't exist. So I created a file with that name and after a while I found out how to skip levels, get extra lives and other cheats.

It came from MBnet, a Finnish BBS which has been shut down since 2002. They had a vast number of rare previews from E3, ECTS and CES. Unfortunately, it's all gone now and I managed to get this file about two years ago when
the company still had an online archive of some old files from the BBS.
