It is surely great to see more prototype footages exposed to the general public!

As for optimism and co., well, I think that it's better to assume nothing will ever happen, as long as it does not unexpectedly happen.
Example of a seemingly unexpected release: The Shadow Warrior prototype builds.

In practice, though, I realize that feelings don't tend to work that way, heh.

Not sure which is the best place to post this - findings of this kind are scattered across several threads and are generally not easy to track down, but anyway - I just stumbled upon a screenshot from a Shadow Warrior preview published in the Jan '96 issue of the French mag Génération 4 which seems to be unfamiliar to me (bottom centre of this page). The image appears to show the Ripper Heart shooting red fireballs in a circular pattern around the player (perhaps similar to one of Guardian Head's firing modes in the full game), and the caption says something to the same effect (the author attempted some pun as far as my poor French allows me to understand).

Is there any chance of having all these already revealed assets in non-compressed gifs or separate art files like the Snake Head drone? Even if they look fine at first glance most of them have a pinkish outline which ruins their details.

Yeah, GIFs are GIFs. Animated or no. They're 8-bit and have 256 colours and as pure as PNG files (except PNG files can be greater than 8-bit). That's kind of why parts of the internet are trying to abolish animated GIFs (to the point of converting them to MPEG streams on the fly) because they can be so large.

Full beta spritesheets (apart from Lameduke stuff) have not been released.

In general the Duke3D beta content is in limbo until Gearbox approves its release, which may happen anytime between now and the heat death of the universe.

Okay, it's very clear. Better wait until they decide to release their BETA content. It would be nice if they were not stubborn and understand that the game is still active, with a very large community of coders and moders.

I'm not sure why this thread needed to be bumped... but let's make some actual use out of it: Are there any cool TCs, mods or custom maps that aim to polish any of the released prototype stuff up into a more final form? I know there's some cleaned up weapon and enemy sprites by Cage out there, but I was wondering about playable things rather than standalone assets. An updated, retail-ified version of L6 from LameDuke would kick ass, as unrealistic as it is to ask of anyone on account of it being fuck-off huge. Yeah, I know bits of it made it into the final game, but you know what I mean...
