We haven't been through all of the archives yet.

There are literally hundreds of CD and HDD backups from the past 20 years. We secured what we felt was the most important, which we would love to share with you guys some day. Some of this, being ports of Zero Hour and Time to Kill :)

That's all I can say for now.

Yes please do those ports ! Niiice Zero Hour !

Do these backups happen to have any old builds of Forever?

Gearbox said they had the previous builds of DNF so I'm afraid we're never gonna see those.

I don't see why they would never share the stuff but I think some people are expecting them to open the floodgate and just release everything to everyone.

The old builds of DNF may still have some good ideas that they'd like to use in other Duke games.

i was thinking the other day with TROR you could make an actual pinball table with the pool balls, have a slide door smack the ball, and 2 slide doors with auto close could be the bumpers

But who's to say that a few hundred CDs worth of data couldn't just one day "accidentally" leak under mysterious circumstances to the internet? There's no harm done if it's just an "accident", am I right? Ya catch my drift, Schreiber? Wink wink, nudge nudge.

The balls don't move up and down slopes let alone roll with gravity, so it would suck as a game.

And I'm not sure you'd necessarily need TROR for that.

Gvien that it's almost 3 years since DNF came out without any mention of another Duke game, if I were the judge I'd believe they'd abandoned it Posted Image

Given how Gearbox treat their fans and third party IPs I really hope 3D gets the full rights to Duke (does anyone feel otherwise?)

Oh I'm sorry, I thought this was a discussion? How about posting some logical replies rather than simply downvoting?

Not a jab about being downvoted, rather that since people obviously disagree I'd like to hear their thoughts.

I'd rather 3DR have the rights back as well, Gearbox isn't doing jack shit and if they do bother to make a Duke game, their game will likely be an appeal to the masses bore and it'll prob be just the one game.

If 3DR/Interceptor gets it, at least Interceptor can try to get better by putting out more and more Duke games, with mod tools as well, with each game they make, they'll get better, they've proved they can do alright with ROTT, making more Duke games and getting better with each one just means more Duke games for us and more experience for them.

Gearbox will likely just be the one streamlined game with paid DLC and done.

need 2 TROR layers, one sloped one for the glass, one flat just below so you can build the table on but as you said and i should of guessed it, duke3d has no physics/velocity/slope detection anyway

As long as they listen to all the little issues. It's the small things like doors opening/closing based on distance to the player which means you can't shoot an enemy directly on the other side without taking splash damage, that really bring down the game.

So let's say Interceptor/Mike wishes to buy Duke Nukem, what did Gearbox ''buy'' it for? The franchise. Are there any realistic rumours?

Wasn't it 20 million?

That might just cover their legal bill with SEGA.

Wow. That's way more than I expected. How much did they earn on DNF?

Aren't you confusing it with DNF's budget? Randy said it was somewhere around 20-30 millions before they acquired it.

So, as far as I've understood 3D Realms owns the trademark and Gearbox owns the IP? What the hell.. I should just wait for something official I guess.

Randy Pitchford estimated that Broussard spent $20-30 million of his own money. However, the details of the Gearbox/3D Realms deal were never disclosed.

Given 3DR's situation, I doubt they received that much money. From their perspective, the beauty of the agreement was that they were supposed to receive royalties on all DNF sales, regardless of profitability (so if 500,000 copies were shipped, they would receive an instant percentage of the revenue, even if 2K and Gearbox failed to break even). That's what they fought over last year: the sweetheart deal turned out to be a heartbreaker.

No. Gearbox owns them both and 3DR are trying to prove that they didn't honour the conditions of the IP and trademark transfer, so according to them they don't own them anymore.

Do you have any idea which conditions and trademark transfers they are talking about? And thank you for clearing that up Musically. :)
