Shadow Warrior (2013) Thread  "New Shadow Warrior Game Announced"

I just tried it and the coupon just appears directly underneath automatically after you add Shadow Warrior to your cart and before you proceed to the checkout. Do you think it could be some kind of regional restriction?

it's definitely worth it. Easily the best single-player shooter in years.

A few screen shots, not the field of view just cropped to get rid of the hud which you can turn off anyway. Graphics are only on high to get a really nice frame rate, it looks way better on ultra. There are plenty of indoor areas I just did not take any screen shots of them yet.

No, the coupon works here.

I just wanted to say the graphics look amazing in this game. The textures must be 2048x2048 at least. Quite a treat, as most of the games I play normally have between 256x256 to 1024x1024 textures (highly compressed as well) in most places. I've got everything set on Ultra. Might tweak it a bit with Nvidia Inspector (anti-aliasing, other settings).

As I already mentioned, I think this game is great (still think a different voice actor would have fit a bit better, even if you want to depict young Lo Wang as he currently is).

Here are my thoughts on the story and possible future DLCs ... I put it in spoiler tags for a reason, so don't expand it, if you haven't finished the game:

Spoiler

Now we only need the DLCs and Kiss of Death* (no hurry, we appreciate what you do. Take your time) to have the complete SW-saga.

*) It will be converted to be about Lo Wang instead of his sister, won't it? Or did I read that wrong in the other thread?

I'm addicted to the melee in this game. Aside from the big monsters, 90% of the time I'm using the Katana.

Same here (with big monsters you mean bosses, right? Because I am also using it on the bigger, regular monsters)

But I am also enjoying firing rockets into groups of smaller enemies (the humans don't come close that fast). For weapon upgrades I concentrated on Shotgun and Machinegun and left the other weapons in original state. Because firing the Shotgun (upgraded to 4 shots without reloadeing and faster reloading) is really satisfying into minor demons in close range. And I found the machinegut really useful for larger groups of demones in medium range distance. Crossbow I use mainly for airbourne enemies and FLamethrower is also good for groups of minor demons to weaken them over shorter periods of time.

Hmmm, after editing this post ... it seems all weapons have their uses and are really fun to use.

I only whish you could slightly upgrade your shurikens (or can you and I missed that?). They are useful for the exploding demons as the shurikens don't drain ammo. Otherwise I use the vanilla pistol for them.

Must be.

At any rate, I used this program to figure out the texture resolution. It didn't list each individual one (like some games I've used it on), but the highest mip level was 2048x2048 for characters and world textures.

In case anyone was interested I solved the problem by restarting steam. Then it worked as expected.

I'm up to chapter 12. I absolutely love this game. The sword's easily the best weapon in the game, but I tend to mix it up with the guns to get more experience. I really need it on hard. It can be pretty damn tough. Has anyone noticed a weird collision bug where you gain too much momentum and die when you hit the ground (i.e. descending stairs)? It's happened to me a couple of times.

Yepppp, that's why I try not to dash whilst going up and down stairs as sometimes you go airborne if you dash up the stairs :P

Press crouch when landing from any heights to absorb the impact like a...ninja. Also the kick can be done any time you do a fresh sprint by just pressing attack.

Yeah, felt pretty nostalgic when I found it. Also found a classic vent thing, and the purple hair anime babe twice so far. It's a shame you can't interact with her though (neither talk to her nor Kill her, which sucks because it wouldn't have been hard to do).

The problem with the secret area you mentioned is that it makes it really noticeable just how slow you move and how low your jump height is compared to the original game.

It's funny; I got two SW coupons for for owning to Devolver games before SW released, then I had one left over after using one to buy the game, and now for some reason I've gotten another one at random. Random luck strikes again, although I have no real use for them unless I can get a decent trade or maybe as a gift for a friend.

Huh? from what I played you move at an insane speed AND jump really high even without sprinting - the only issue is that there's lots of blocking walls which is a shame.

Yeah power up your running/stamina, it's well worth it. You cannot jump high though.

Haha yeah, I probably should have put that in the other thread with the rest but fuck it. Anyway I really like the lighting in this game.

Something about Robert DeNiro in Taxi Driver as well.

Zilla sends his regards, Lo Wang!

My only problem with the game is that the guns feel really, really weak. I guess that's why the upgrade system is there. But as I suspected, then it doesn't really feel like you're playing the full game, which is a shame. Luckily the katana is more than powerful enough to take care of most enemies by itself.

The upgrade system is better here than in Hard Reset. At least you have different kinds of points for different sets of skill/upgrades, so that you can unlock some interdependently of others, as opposed to Hard Reset where everything was upgraded using the same system.

Here are my tipps. Try to get as much money as possible and upgrade Shotgun and Machinegun. They are very useful later in the game and I didn't feel the need to upgrade others.

I felt the same way about the weapons until I upgraded some of them. The upgraded revolver and shotgun feel great to use, and the crossbow is pretty fun by default but with stickybombs is godly.

Cheers for that! I wasn't sure what triggered the kick attack. I was wondering why Wang would send out a feeble kick when trying to get close to the mini-boss demons.

The guns are pretty useless unless you upgrade them. Fortunately, money can only be spent of firearms, so you don't have to pick and choose. The upgraded revolver is fantastic (especially against the flying demons) and the quad-barrel shotgun's alt-fire is brutal against mini-bosses and waves of enemies. If you use a combination of your powers, sword and guns in a firefight, the multiplier goes through the roof. It doesn't matter if it's purely defensive (like soaking up incoming attacks with AA RMB) or offensive based (suspending them in the air or knocking them down with DD RMB and WW RMB respectively) killing enemies in their 'stunned' stage gives you a big bonus.

fuegerstef, is the uzi really worth upgrading? Even at the akimbo level (with nothing else unlocked) it feels too weak to waste anymore money on it.

Hehe. I had everything else upgraded but the akimbo level and was very pleased with it. It served me well against teh big bosses. High accuracy on the armor and high accuracy on the uncovered chrystals beneath the armor. I think the increased accuracy of the laser pointer alone does a lot for the Uzis,

No problem, it took me a while to figure it out but now I keep forgetting to use it. Can someone who beat it tell me how many chapters there are, I think I read somewhere there is 17 is this true?

The akimbo Uzis are sexy and great for crowd control.

I'm on chapter 8, all great so far but I hope there are more humans to kill it's fun slaughtering them because they are so pathetic!
