The Editor Choice awards have been revealed. We´ve won The Ressie Award. Not sure what it means and not sure why they say "one guy" but well..
Also, we´re featured in their video, minute 6:35 or something.
Well, like the tale says: Now that it´s true nobody believes it

Boy, that's really sad when you think about it, how a fangame can be better than a big-name project with a 12+ year development cycle.

They are like "HERE'S THE WINNERRRR!!!" "Nah just kidding...."
"NO HERE'S THE WINNER FOR REAL" "Kidding again..."
Shit!

What's even sadder is that they have a Ressie Award category in the first place. What does that say about the gaming industry as a whole?

That most of the guys who are currently working in the game industry suck at their jobs?

Makes you wonder how well we did in the initial voting round to be mentioned as a "kick ass, popular choice" then not even make the top 10.

Why? The current stats tell a different tale. DNF 2013 is currently at place 139 with a 9.7 rating, and the number one voted mod on moddb is on position 162 with a 9.0 rating. What does that tell you?
The mod got an award for being a slap in the face to 14 years of development of the original game - pretty awesome accomplishment, methinks.

I thought it was pretty amazing, if rough around the edges.

Not too far from what i was expecting. We didn´t push our luck on the second round, we should have lied and posted articles twice as much as we did for the first round if we really wanted to make a difference. Of course I would have liked to see it there, but seeing the stats in the MOTY page and other signals got me ready to expect a shameful defeat

Well, if you understand how ModDb´s rank works you´ll see nothing is very surprising there. The only thing the rank means is how much traffic the mod is generating. The rating is an average of people´s ratings, and the top ten reflects how many people voted the mod.

Of course it is something. AFAIK it´s the first time a Duke mod makes it to the top spot, to the "ballotage" and gets an award (even if the award is kind of bizarre).

I remember loving the first installment of Underhell even if it was, like James says, rough around the edges. It was very much like FEAR Perseus Mandate with great combat and bland level design. The new version instead is pretty dull though. They wanted to add many things the mod never required.
Now as a punishment for all those lazy fucks that didn´t vote us, or those traitors that decided to vote another mod, i will delete 5 brand new awesome maps I had waiting for releasing today, they included all missing scenes from the 2001 and 1998 trailer and was almost ready, mind a few details.. Too bad

It was okay. The forced stealth sections were terrible though. I actually preferred the first one which I liked quite a lot.
