YESSS!! TOP 100!!!

The new system of voiting kinda sucks, you have to vote twice. You press on "vote for this mod" and then "vote". I'm sure a lot of votes can be lost because of this.

That's pretty motivating eh Gambini Posted Image

I'm guessing it doesn't tell us how far up we were, but at least we know we're in the 99.5 percentile of all mods released.

Didn't notice the mod is mentioned on the main page of the Mod of the year 2013 section!

Is it worth making another news item about this to remind people to vote for it again? It's just that it would be nice for the first time in history for a Duke 3D mod to be a mod of the year.

no kidding. that last VOTE doesn't even look like a vote button, it appears to be just a word sitting next to the icon/pic.

What older mods are doing on a 2013's top100 page?

Not just older mods; last year's winner Black Mesa is also on there. I'm sure they won't let a mod win the award more than once (that would be kinda pointless), but then it shouldn't really be in the top 100 in the first place.

Edit: Was Black Mesa actually last year's winner? The moddb article said it was but then the actual list says something else...

It's a trick there; just make a minor 'patch' and you're a current mod ready for a nomination.

Of course all the system in ModDB is designed to bring traffic. Contests make modders link their mod profiles everywhere, this brings new users who check the mod.. all this increases the traffic, which is proportional from the $ it gets from the ads.

Resource: Gambini´s logic Volume 3.

Seems Gambini neglected to post this awesome fan trailer (which he made into a news item on Moddb for no apparent reason Posted Image )

That, and the fact that he says he feels like John Lennon (a true peace advocist, too bad his name is misused so much today). Has Gambini, *GASP*, sold out?

Gambini says that that trailer is original but it's from the actual DNF game

Wow, what a farce this whole voting really is.

Didn´t know it was based on another trailer... I thought it was his set-up, music choice and idea... well

I´d rather say i´m losing shine. This guy made a couple of trailers (this one included) some months ago. I posted that one on the news because, back then, it was the one I found more interesting (again i didn´t know what it was) And because I wanted to give the mod a last push before the voting was over.

Yeah I thought you comment on the video about originality was a little weird. But IMO it makes the video a little better, since it's sort of a parody of DNF 2011 and its advertising, jut like DNF 2013 could be viewed as a kind of parody of the actual DNF as well.

So I'm looking at the moddb page and the counter is at 0, but it's not giving us any details..? Can't wait to see how far up the top 10 we are.

I realize they probably have to write a small article or something but honestly what's the point of having a counter if you don't see results at the end of it. It's not like they don't know the final results just a few hours before it's over.

I'll take your word for it since there's no evidence of any winner showing up on my computer. But if it is the case then well done Gambini and Mikko (and anyone else involved in making content for it), this is a huge win for you and the community.

Just goes to show that Duke is still relevant and maybe, just maybe, Gearbox or whoever will take notice and decide to make the next Duke game with similar kick ass core gameplay to Duke 3D.

I'm surprised. Time finally to play DLC, it seems.

I don't see any news on the moddb's site, though.

I thought it was a wise idea to hold off on the super mega boastful/arrogant/condescending facebook post until there's solid evidence either way Posted Image

"Guess what everyone? A mod I made a level for won mod of the year beating only 20,000 mods from other, more popular games"
"Oh really? Says here that *Mod X* is 2013 mod of the year."
"Hmm well the thing about that is..." *deletes facebook*.
