That'd be a bit complicated. First of all it'd have to be decided that only the pistol can be used (since all the other weapons require two hands) and even then its position would have to modified, which probably can't be done unless it's coded from scratch (all the weapons are hardcoded). Then either reloading would have to be disabled or it'd somehow have to be made so that the bike hud changes every time you reload (Duke doesn't have three hands). And of course steering should be disabled while reloading. Then you'd have to code all the sway (can the player look around when driving and if so, what should be the angle?) & bob stuff. Simply not worth it even if it were a good idea otherwise, which it really isn't.

Mikko is making it sound too difficult. I can´t speak for the coding part but to what respects to game mechanics and art doesn´t sound difficult or boring . If it were possible to code, I have every other problem solved in my head. Now the real question is if it´s worth doing all that considering the mod is done.

I don't think it's worth it unless there is a map for the mod with gameplay intending it's use. However, I do think that a small patch fixing up rough edges would be nice.

And it's totally possible to code, I mean Redneck Rampage had it.

The bike in redneck rampage can´t even be driven. BTW my idea is to have the pistol in the left hand and make it move with a freelook-style, while the right hand stays on the handle. Limited angles should be necessary to make it not look stupid and for reloading we´d only need to lower the weapon a bit (if Terminator can cock a shotgun with one hand duke can reload a pistol the same way). About the user maps, they should be done for the current game mechanic. But something like fixing the flying glitch and the speedometer would come handy for any map, user or not.

If you´re driving on a slope and dont accelerate or brake the bike behaves strangely, if the slope goes up, you keep going up even after the slope ends. If the slope goes down you scream and die (and sometimes clip the floor) like if you were falling. It gets fixed if you press forward or backwards AFAIK and the problem seems to be aggravated if you use the mouse to steer. There´s also a worse problem, which doesnt happen too often, if you jump and hit the edge, you´re sent to the top of the sector and fly around for a while.

Yeah, it´s like a fast player movement with awkward turning, it can even strafe. I know considering the times it must have been acceptable, but can´t be compared to what Lezing did with this bike, mind the bugs.

Oh and for the record, the first version of this bike was able to shoot, it´s just that it was not cool to shoot straight ahead. If you can shoot in a vehicle, you should be able to look around.

What if the mouse control for the bike was diabled (which might as well be done anyway since it's more buggy), and instead the the way the bike hud sprite moves around can be used for a limited mouselook, say 30 degrees left and right of straight ahead.

Actually I've played it about a month ago but then I've got a serious injury and was hospitalized. So I'll be off the stage for a while, unfortunately. Still I hope I'll manage to fully recover.

The real life is nothing like Duke, dude. Occasionally falling off the third storey is usually enough to hear that a "major fracture detected". Now I'm staying home with a broken leg and left wrist drop... looking like if I drove the dukebike for real.

Considering the ammount of people using "of" in this situation, there is nothing wrong with it anymore.
That's how languages work: new words and new definitions for existing words get created all the time because a certain number of people start using them. It might not be in the dictionnary yet, but I bet it will be relatively soon.

You can't prevent it, it's in the mere definition of modern languages that they evolve and that's one of the way they evolve.
