Working version of eDuke for LAN/Coop play?

Hey there, new poster here. My friends and I were trying to get eDuke working for a three-way coop session the other day. This was through Hamachi and the latest rev of eDuke...we of course quickly encountered desync and crashes afterwords.

My question is, simply put, what can I do (using YANG with Hamachi, or whatever have you) to play eDuke32 in a 3-way coop without having to forward any ports on my end? The host can obviously forward ports, but I can't and neither can my other friend.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you and everyone else is waiting for this to become a reality. The current versions of EDuke do NOT support multi-player. This functionality was rendered useless back sometime in 2009. You can try using an older version of Eduke to play multi-player without using the polymer renderer.

Try this release for multi-player support: EDuke32 2009-10-17
The download link can be found here: http://dukeworld.duk.../20091017-1533/

At the moment it appears the people who contribute most to the game are occupied with other aspects of the game and it doesn't appear that multi-player is taking any kind of priority. But, it makes sense to address the bugs in the single player environment before complicating matters by adding more than one player to the game.

So there is no time line on when multi player will be available. But with the release of Duke3D Megaton and their public release stating that multi-player will be a reality in the near future, we can only hope that this threat will decrease the time it takes for Eduke to be networkable again while maintaining its status as the primary leader in the Duke Nukem 3d community. Here's to hoping!

Welcome to the Duke4.net forums! In the mean time feel free to make some custom user maps for us to play while we all wait for MULTIPLAYER support! =)

I could be wrong but I thought there is limited LAN play working now. There is another thread started in the forums on the issue called Eduke multiplayer madness.

I'll have to bribe one of the kids to try it out.

You don't need to use Hamachi.

How would I, and friends do 3 way coop without forwarding ports? (Also, without dsync/crashes?)

Thanks for the rest of the posts regarding your current knowledge on the state of Multiplayer.
