found a collector and sold off the rest of my crap
bought a psu, case, & video card. broke again
maybe i'll be able to afford a new board if i scrimp and save for the next six months or so
-or- the 1090 boards will come out and maybe the prices for 990s will start to drop
whatever. patience is a virtue when you're poor

Have you considered sucking dick? It's HIGHLY profitable. Vector Marketing is looking for erection techs in the Southern and Western US. Don't worry, it's legal. We just call it "mouth cuddling."

I've had this board for a few hours now. The Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 is seriously one of the biggest shitheaps I've ever used. I'm this close to throwing it in the river and reinstalling the Biostar.

i was aiming for a UD5 990FX, (supposedly better mosfets -DrMos- and cooling) but it's probably on rev3 and not any better

MSI is crap
ECS is flakey
Asrock extreme9 has vdroop
gigabyte and asus fucked up their good boards with their latest revisions
can't find a biostar TA990FXE for a reasonable price

either i'll go for the Asrock extreme4 990FX or maybe i will wait for the 1090 boards (if AMD can figure out how to put PCIe 3.0 on their shit)

The 990 Rev 3 has the same issues.

I'm just going to reconnect my old Biostar motherboard tomorrow. I have a slim 80mm fan and I'm going to rig it up to the VRM's with long skinny zip ties. I've seen people get some serious results with this board and the FX-6100, which uses a little more power than my 965, so I think I might be able to pull this off. I'm going to wait until I take my CCNA exam in case anything happens though. I need this system running.

can you use that UD3 board to build a rig and sell it to make up some of the loss
-or-
connect the 24pin power backwards making little puffs of electronic dust, then return it as doa and get your money back?

I don't see why frying the board is necessary to return it...

because it's one less p.o.s. that will go back on the shelf and plague someone else who thinks they're getting a quality rev 1 board

I'm going to return it to Staples, buy a 20" HP monitor, and fence the said monitor on Craigslist. Daddy needs new control arms for his Mustang.
