Exploit achievements are lame.

Though I did have a thought for a neat achievement. Blowing up an Assault Trooper before he teleports so that he explodes when he teleports back in. It takes a little skill to achieve, but it's not impossible.

I think they should code in ability to save babes, and you could have achievements for that too.

It might take a better form as "surprise a Trooper on the toilet and watch him defy the laws of physics".

Sort of. I've heard it only works at the moment if you invite someone to a private game. Joining some random person's coop game has very glitchy results.

How are user maps supported? Does the lobby host send them off to other players in a cache folder renamed with a checksum? If it doesn't then it should. There is more than one WASTED.MAP and i'm sure there's countless modifications of ASSTEN.MAP out there.

At first I couldn't see the MP in the menu till I realised I had to make my game Beta, by joining it in the properties of the Steam menu, lol

Are there any plans to come up with a Polymost HRP pack compatible with Megaton Edition? There's a few people wanting it to happen.

The model looks strange as it's got just the diffuse textures. I've done a quick render bake for him so that he dosen't look so flat. It's just a quick job to see if it looks any better. I can tweak the render settings and the lights if it works.

I know I won't be playing anyone online with the HRP, I'm not waiting 1 minute for them to load the map. Better give me the option to kick HRP lovers.

Wish they'd bite the bullet and put work towards proper Client/Server netcode, or help with the implementation in EDuke32 so that both can benefit.

Why kind of PC do you have that you think maps load that long? Takes a few seconds here with the new HRP.

Depends on if you have it set to cache the textures first or not...or have already cached them. Some levels take a while to load. And there are people who will want to play with the HRP with a crappy computer.

Yup it's exactly that, plus I'm sure the lag of the HRP would cause some stupid sync issue.

Edit: There is nothing wrong with my PC, I have a i7 with a GTX570 but I dislike the HRP and it's my choice if I don't want to use it.

Personally, I love the HRP, especially lately with some of the newer HQ models. Are we talking about Megaton, though? Does that support the HRP?

So is it worth buying this in its current state if I want to play Duke 3D mp?

Are there a decent amount of people playing it (or attempting to play it at least), and should I get it now so I can scratch that itch or wait till the MP is further along?

It's still in a beta stage right now and seems to work best with 1v1 matches. I'd say that judgement is up to you. It's not that expensive, really.

There's not a lot of people playing randoms, but you'll probably be able to find a game. Since there's no join-in-progress you have to check the lobby list at just the right time, or host a game yourself and wait for someone to join (which can take a while).

Someone made it for me back when I wanted to try to get an HD sprite pack going. That's the only weapon he did. I'd like to see them at least do all of the HUD weapons like that in Megaton Edition.

I have a suggestion regarding user maps that include their own songs. You should be able to give your user map's song the same filename as the map for it to play in the map, rather than having to replace "dethtoll.ogg". Example: "DUKESNIGHTMARE.MAP" and "DUKESNIGHTMARE.ogg"
