The well known phrase is suppose to go: "my mistake your fault" and its a saying you say jokingly.

So I can call you a tool, and it's okay because I meant it as a joke?

Even in the public beta, there are issues I am not very happy with:
- Pistol no longer has the pinpoint-when-aimed-at-monsters accuracy, which can demote it to a starting weapon with no other purpose than to be last-resort (for most people).
- The shrunken fist animation is way too fast.
- There are still sound garbling issues.
- You have to MANUALLY load a quicksave when you die; pressing use just restarts the level rather than asking you if you want to load the last quicksave.
I'm pretty sure they got complaints about that already, but they're too busy with Shadow Warrior to do anything about it.

Hmm, I dont have Megaton edition (but I played Jfduke in past, which in many basic things is almost same as I heard), but do I read this correctly that you want Devolver to actually change behaviour of pistol from vanilla game? :P
Because, well pistol really isnt supposed to have pinpoint accuracy. But IMHO pistol is more useful than you may think, because it uses up its own ammo type (instead of for example Dooms pistol, which get redundant after getting chaingun) so I personally recommend it using against weakest enemies (slimers, sharks, turrets [but only for lonely ones] assualt troopers and captains) or for shooting buttons or blowing up explosive barrels.
(Is it just me so conservative with not using strong weapons against weak enemies? :P Because in most videos I see players blasting off troopers with shotgun?!)

Shooting troopers with a shotgun for me is the most satisfying thing you can do in Duke 3D, even better when they start choking and then you shoot again even though you don't need to. It's sublime.

You need to turn on Auto-aim. It's off by default. Turn it on, and things will return to vanilla behavior.

Thought they fixed that in the public beta.

Okay, it works with auto-aim on. Though really, I should wonder why the pinpoint-accurate thing still occurs with auto-aim off in EDuke32. I just like the fact that it has that kind of behavior because it makes the pistol actually useful for taking down enemies, even when you have ammo for your other weapons.

Whoops, I was wrong, they did.

My point on the lack of the load-last-save dialogue still stands, though. I'm used to that, and there were several occasions in which I have accidentally overwritten saves because I'm not used to having to manually quickload the game after death.

EDuke32 implements specific functionality to boost the accuracy for the pistol when autoaim is disabled, as long as the crosshair is directly aimed at an enemy when firing. This is to compensate for the huge amount of autoaim in the original game that couldn't be disabled. Without such compensation, the weapons aren't really balanced as they were in the DOS version anymore (plus it would be really unfair in multiplayer for one guy to have an accurate pistol and the other to have a useless one).

Interesting, I thought it was a good idea. =S Why would changing it that way be a bad thing?

You were just joking right fox? =P

The change goes more towards preserving gameplay (e.g makes the weapon function closer to the original DOS executable) than changing it; anyone that doesn't like it can go make their own goddamn Duke3D port.

They're working on it. They did just push out Linux versions of the game and Shadow Warrior.
