Its interesting how George said after teaser trailer was released, that they are done showing small tidbits and next time we see DNF it will be in substantial form. And at the same time they continue showing us some fluff stuff that just DOESNT CUT IT anymore.

I really hope this would stay civil, but seems it won't. When people cross the line and make it personal like Lotan did, there is no reason to continue this thread.

Also, this has an adverse effect on Duke4.net's possibilities to get some interviews and inside info later on. That again affects to the fact how the fansite is perceived in the wider-audience

Still, we should keep it civil. I created this thread as a lighthearted way to blow off steam that we aren't allowed to do at the official forums. I give 3DR a lot of guff, but I still actually have great respect for them. They're in an impossible situation at this point, so to hold their tongue and keep working on this game, given all the hate, must be quite hard to do.

As far as I remember George wasn't eager to give DNF related interview around Duke 3d XBLA review. Don't he will later "exclusively". Shacknews more likely.

Well telling someone to "fuck off" because you(not you specifically) didn't get your way with how 3drealms decides to run things is not only immature but a detriment to this site.

I appreciate that thoughts/feelings are not censored here *but* there's a point that shouldn't be crossed and that's making things "personal" which is what the rant thread here became.

It makes me uncomfortable especially since I donated money to this site to help run it. I did *NOT* donate money for this site/forum to personally attack 3drealms.

P.P.S. Though, I'm still stand by my post's meaning. Even if it's semi-referential. Really, doing all this stuff started from releasing the teaser and not to have at least a trailer is screwing up big time.

I'm not personally attacking George for that. I'm attacking him as a project leader of DNF. He should have known better when releasing this teaser that repeating 1998 or 2001 fiasco is not an option. That's why I've always liked blackout since it implied that 3dr are indeed learned from their mistakes. And that's why release of 2007 teaser was such an event in the heart of every DNF fan. Because they thought about DNF being on good track since 3dr decided to show this.

Kaiser, I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that you aren't dissapointed. You said days earlier about the sense of a coming trailer.

So, I think it's not a big deal to attack 3dr and GB(as a project lead) for screwing this up. It was clearly a mistake on their side.

P.P.P.S. Ok, maybe trailer is coming really soon, like in Jan. There is still time to not screw up completely. I hope it is in the works and the game will be coming in 2009. If it's not then just cancel the whole thing. Then start it again in 2015.

You know, to me the worst part of the whole thing is that 3DR look like they aren't sure what are they doing. I have no problem with waiting but it bugs me that every media release is random.

You know, the thumbnails were "just for ads".
Teaser was "just for a Christmas party".
Jace Hall footage was "kind of random (release)".
Two shots in Duke3D were "just a surprise for fans".
Wallpaper is released "due to popular demand".

So from the beginning I thought they were well aware of their movements but it seems they weren't lying. All of this is just random and means nothing.

Right, but something tells me there "MIGHT" be more media this year. Otherwise next year for sure, the wait is painful in my experience but they need to be more open with the game already.

I think seeing a huge high res (in engine) shot of a few enemies along with a couple massive ones is pretty substantial.

It may not be in the quantity that some people want but I think it's pretty good. Like I've said before, I really doubt they'll put out any trailer until the game is reasonably near release, or even close enough to name a date given the history of things so far.

I must say, I was kind of hoping for a bit more than a wallpaper. First, one year has passed since the teaser trailer, second if they could put together a wallpaper with 6 enemies, they could as well have shown of, let's say five screenshots from within the game. Even if it was taken from that Hoover dam level that Jace played.

A trailer, a short one, another teaser, something like that. I feel like a Wallpaper just don't do it anymore. It would have a year ago, but not now in the last weeks of the year.

And then I'd like to apologize if my tone has sounded a bit too negative in my latest posts.

I think the wallpaper rocks. Looking at it now though, there must be no possible way they're going to release anytime after 2009. While the graphics are nice, they wont last that long. So 3d realms better release it soon.

Next year would be the best bet, a 1UP Preview is still possible this month in my guess. Also next year has to be the goldmine for DNF media and Daily Development Updates. Since most people as Kaiser, Me and Nukemdave believe 2009 is the best possible year for DNF's Super Epic Highly Anticipated Legendary etc, Release finally.

i love that screenshot, i can't stop thinking about what blasting those enemies will be like, and the thing George was saying about the armor being bolted on, made my imagination run wild.

shooting the armor of an assault trooper, denting it, making the enemy stumble backwards, only for it to come back firing, for another taste, then shooting it's armor again sending a part of the armor flying off, making it's head/upper torso open for bullet penetration, then go in for that fatal blast, or you could go for it's limbs where there is no armor.

that's my idea of what certain battles could be like, weak spots and such.

makes me feel all giddy inside.

Interesting thoughtful idea dude!! Hopefully George has already incorporated this feature into the game already quite possibly.
