Lol, Super-Slomo in the E1L1 vid is still faster than your average shooter's speed of today.

Gonna be awesome.

Singleplayer is looking pretty nice. I remember asking about how the AI would be handled a while back and it looks spot on from what I can see: just the right balance of slightly suicidal aggressiveness with moderate tactics.

I do have one concern about the HUD, however: Will the on-screen "x2" combo multiplier pop ups and "1 Enemy Killed" messages be optional? I know having a score is a hallmark feature of this era of FPS games, but ROTT (or any other FPS of the time that I can think of) didn't require constant visual feedback for every point you earned. It's unnecessary visual clutter, and sorry to say, but it reminds me of the constant "+100" xp kill messages in Call of Duty's multiplayer. Such on-screen reminders aren't really needed when the splattering of blood and ludicrous gibs are more than plenty to inform you that your shots are on the mark.

Again, just a simple option to turn these score messages off and leaving the critical messages such as weapon pickups, Ludicrous Gibs, and such enabled would suffice.

Yep, we'll be announcing it soon. Sorting out pre-order bonuses with Steam and GoG etc. Oh, and finishing up the new box art ;-)

We'll announce a date not long before release, Steam/GoG like it that way. Better for pre-orders they say.

Look, everything is looking good and all but the way the blood comes out of the limbs is weird as hell, looks even like a bug. It's only visible on the first and second videos so Im assuming those are older builds?
edit: well, maybe they are not. =P If this is the case I hope it's fixed in a patch or something.

The graphical effects do look a bit cheesy, but based on the above footage, the product delivers exactly what it advertises. I foresee many hours wasted on this game when it ends up in my Steam library; I am going to play the hell out of it.

We deliberately made the blood spraying and gibs very cheesy and over the top
Thats what we love about Rise of the Triad!

I hope you will enjoy the final product Comrade Major

Interceptor's definitely doing its own thing with ROTT. I can't wait to pick it up.

Frederik, are you guys planning on releasing a ROTT demo/shareware before launch in the Apogee/3DR tradition?

Awesome, soon there will be an answer to my question from the QuakeCon panel last year!

Just checked out a couple of the gameplay videos and I am glad that the player speed is still fast paced. Can't wait!

I noticed when the Dark Staff is said to catch enemy bullets in the weapons demo it appears to catch shell casings not bullets.

The voice acting is atrocious but I suppose it fits the cheesy over-the-top theme. I loved the gore effect of eyeballs sticking to the screen, it was also cool to see the enemy begging for mercy like in the original game.

Yeah I'm glad they fixed the enemy begging. That bugged me about the reboot originally... also.. it looks like they fixed the priest porridge so it's no longer a floating rotating bucket but it's now a bowl like in the original. I already know I want a mod that moves the magazine on the MP40 to the bottom so it's not like a STEN gun though.

Yeah from what I've seen it's pretty spot-on for the tone of the game.

Yes, you will be able to turn off the combo x2,x3,x4 messages and most on screen text. While most of our guys love it some of our old schoolers definitely want to turn it off. So, we're gonna let you!

Wait 'til you hear the other 4 characters. It's totally spot on. But if you hate it you can always turn it off. We're cool like that ;-)

Thanks for this! Every little bit of news I hear has just been better and better. You and the rest of Interceptor have been doing a stellar job on the game, and I eagerly await its release.

What do you need a preorder?

I want the release date to be between August 5th 7:17PM and August 6th 3:42 AM. An alternative would be a preorder being possible between July 17th 8:41 AM and July 19th 9:56 AM.

THat is important, so I really hope it is then.

The team increased and it is always a difference if it is paid work or sparetime work. You can concetrate on it without getting other, paid work in the way.
