joystick moving and lookingupanddown slow  "joystick strafing and turning fast"

Has anyone else who tried playing with a joystick have the problem of moving (forward / backward) and lookingupanddown being slow (even with sensitivities maxed) while turning and strafing were at full speed?
With the latest eduke32 2.0 1850

I use a xbox360 controller to play Duke sometimes. I use a program called X-Padder. xpadder.com
It runs in the background and emulates keyboard buttons, and mouse capabilities through the joystick. This works good for me, hope it helps you.

PS: I play Eduke in standard keyboard and mouse mode. Standard buttons. And I do remember adjusting the (Y-axis?) sensitivity. (slightly, not maxed or anything)

The joystick drivers I use do provide the ability to map axis as mouse axis and buttons.
Mapping joystick pitch to mouse y-axis is a good workaround for the slow pitch speed.
However, the mouse isn't coded to control moving forward, and mapping it to a button removes the ability to move at variable speeds.

It's strange that strafe speed is just fine, but not moving forward.

You use one of the Xbox360 joysticks for yaw and pitch, and the other for strafe and moving? You map strafe and moving axis to buttons?

Yes I do. Left stick > W A S D
It's not the greatest setup I usually just use the keyboard and mouse, but sometimes I get lazy and like to kickback and play.
I never knew that joysticks enabled variable walking speed. I thought it was walk, run, roids. That's it.
I will test Joystick Mode and see if I have your same issue.

PS Try the latest build of EDuke32 HERE

Ya, the original DOS version had support for variable move speeds (not just walk, run, roids.)
I used to play it with the SpaceOrb.

Let me know about the results of your testing. I wonder if eduke32 sees the Xbox360 controller via Xinput or Direct Input?

Thanks for the link!

Do you mean whether Duke can run at variable speeds? I don't think that's the case, when you push the button, Duke moves forward.

Well if that were the case why would there be menus for setting deadzones, scales, and saturations for 7 axis in the joystick menus.
It was fun playing Duke Nukem 3D with a joystick, I hope try it again with eduke32!
