What's your modding talent? "A poll about who can do what."

By comparison, I did some map work yesterday and today as well for about the same length of time, and probably added about 10 seconds worth of new stuff to the map (As in, that's all the time it takes to see all the areas have to offer) For people who are hard-pressed for time, coding is more satisfying in the long run because it's adding stuff to the world as a whole rather than a portion of a level.

@DT and James, then I guess it's a good thing that mappers has the most votes.
I've added a sound artist option, but coincidentally it's below 'nothing'

I rely on other people though to make it come fully alive, which means mappers and artists are extremely important. In mod development that's where things always seem to get hung up. I can complete "proof of concept" versions of most of the code within a week or two if I hunker down and do it, no matter the project/task. But, that's the easy part. Everything else is ridiculously time consuming.

LOL. Yeah i mean not just visit a website and grab some soundclips or rip them from a game/movie but also make proper editing or even create custom sounds/music from scratch

You are very good at gathering resources, which is actually a very important skill for producing TCs when you don't have paid staff.

How about adding an "8-bit spriter" option? Working with a pre-defined 256-color palette is much different than just a texture artist.

I suppose, but I guess nothing being worked on currently is of interest, or I'm simply not seeing all these mods that need help. I wouldn't mind actually having a mod where you're a giant robot pummeling buildings though. that I could get behind!

IMHO you are fucking up your poll by getting too finicky with it. Before it represented the basic categories. "texture artist" should be understood to include all 2D art, both 8-bit and hi-res.
The other problem with adding new categories is that a lot of people have already answered it using the old categories and will not go back to change their results, so the new categories will be underrepresented.

I disagree. They really are different. Besides, I think that this change really does cover all the bases.

This is hardly a major change. I did do some major changes before but that was really early on, and it only affected about 6 people, who I sent a pm with a brief explanation and a link to the thread to so they could quickly and easily correct the situation.

Anywhere else on the planet, that would be a valid assumption. Here at Duke Fandom HQ it's a completely different story. A lot of the 8-bit followers have such a foul attitude to any high-res work that it's become two very distinct and different camps.

Yeah, that's spot on, and will eventually give an inaccurate view of the situation, which is completely counter-productive.

However, I genuinely want people's thoughts, so I put up a second question asking if the two options should be kept separate.
