If I could give you multiple rep points for this post without editing the database manually, I would!

Wait in what way is this game not like Halo?
#1 Halo had opened areas and multiple paths..
#2 you could only hold two weapons
#3 enemies would come from dropships
#4 the way you use weapons and punch enemies feels exactly like halo!
#5 Regenerating Health???
#6 you had driveable vehicles in it.

Really seriously this isn't halo type gameplay!!!.. FUCK OFF! Fanboy... and stop lieing to the idiots on the forum.

If Halo sucks ass so does DUKE! cause it has the exact type of gameplay... otherwise shut me the fuck up and prove me wrong.

All duke has is different weapons, fatalities and different areas.. more interactivity and a longer game... That is about it really.. but that doesn't mean the ride might get boring after 6 hours of using the same weapons.
Was it not you who claimed to help George and GBX with the development of DNF? You went on and on about how much you had to do with it. Seems that was a lie, or you wouldn't be acting like someone who had no clue of what to expect from the demo. Lies usually have some way to eventually bite you in the ass and here, a huge chunk was torn out of yours. You got caught.
I rest my case.

Well, I guess this thread has fulfilled its purpose by now. If the goal was to collect massive amounts of negative reps, success has been achieved. But well, in a forum full of Duke fans, this is like crying for a beating, anyway... xD

Just in order to refer to the topic: DNF can't be Halo - because power armor is, as you all know by now, for pussies. OK, Ego works similar, but at least you don't have to hide yourself in a gay suit like a freakin' coward. :(

I don't know, muskydragon. I don't see how something can 'feel like playing Halo and COD', since to me those games feel so different. Name some real similarities beyond two weapons, linearity and FPS genre. I can't think of any.

It's not like Halo at all. I played all halo games and those games suck ass. Dnf is not like halo.

You played four games in a series you dislike? Three points about that. 1) You didn't dislike them, and are closeted about the fact that you enjoy Halo. 2) You did dislike them, but were stupid enough to play all of them anyway. 3) LULZ.

Amen to that... For us that waited since the very beginning for this game to finally come, of course it's worth going all the way to the BoS Edition. I know that the demo might be having mixed reviews, but it won't do overall justice to the overall full game, so I'm playing Mr. Optimist around here.

I thought about laying out the cash for the BoS box, then subsequently thought "I would have to have the IQ of a plankton to actually waste that much money on what effectively boils down to a cheap plastic bust of a game character, and some poker chips." Would rather buy other things.

One thing I have noticed is that turning off Post Effects and Motion Blur makes the game miles better on my PC. Without Motion Blur on it makes everything in the distance look much, much sharper, and Post Effects being turned off make everything more colourful and clear. It works for me, anyway.

I am sure that the final game will be much better than the demo.
I am still buying the BoS edition, who knows it is sold out on release day and it turns out it is a good game.

Of course you were. Did you spend the whole time telling your employers that "Console games suck!" and "Why do I only have two weapons? This sucks!" etc? I simply don't believe you.

My advice to you is to sit on the BoS edition for some time, and do not open it. Buy the regular one for yourself. At a time of your choosing, sell your mint BoS copy to some mug who will pay top-dollar for it.

I suppose it's never too late to switch from the BoS Edition back to Standard, but this late in the game before release, it just might be too late...oh well. At least I can deal with all the collectible stuff.

No, because I got paid to work not to tell my employers anything.
Dunno how young you are, or if you ever had a job like this. At this kind of job you usually wake up at 6 in the morning go to your QC department, hand over your mobile phone if it has a camera, sign your daily paper disclaimer that allows your company to sue you if they suspect you of leaking shit about the game, followed by a stressful FULL day of playing and replaying the same fucking level and that usually happens for 1 week or more, trying to find bugs from a certain SERIOUSNESS (S Class) that's required of you each day.
Each time you find a bug, you need to document it's means of reproduction, it's X, Y and Z values per map, make a small video of it, a few print screens and then enter it in your company's internal DB among other thousands of bugs and hope and pray that Devs(that are usually from other countries and can't speak proper english and also see QC people as their biggest enemies) don't give you shit and say that the bugs you have discovered were not bugs and they were "BY DESIGN", because if they do that to you, you don't get paid properly anymore...
That's literally all that you do every single fucking day from 6am to 20pm with small 10 min breaks every 2 hours.

If you actually think I have time to tell my "employers" that something sucks, then you probably don't have the first fucking clue about how damn annoying and stressing a QC department for games is.
You probably imagine that testing alphas and betas for cool games, is the most awesome thing that a person can do...
If you actually think that, you need a reality check ASAP.

Yeah, I did at one point and it sucked ass.
I worked for for multiple. I started at EA, then at a third party QC department that had a slip management between Bungie and Microsoft and finally at Ubisoft where it was the hardest out of them all but had the biggest pay check.
Ubisoft rapes you with implied Overtime in the weekends.
Imagine how much time I had for mates and girlfriends back then... Good thing internet porn existed back then too...

See? It can be done! You stated your view completely opposite from others without insult... WHY can this not be the norm? (thanks! ) B)

THATS RIGHT! It was him! So everything wrong with the game is in fact MuskyDraggin's fault! I think I even said something about being able to blame him for him influencing the game as he claimed! :(
It is ok... "I came here to Post Negatives and chew bubblegum... and I'm all out gum..." :(

That's your advice, but i won't take it.
I've been waiting long enough to buy me a collectors edition, if the game gets released and it's a success.
Then you have been screwed over by believing the demo will be as bad as the game.

Actually, a lot of people seem to be in denial about this, but yes, Duke Nukem Forever does in fact borrow quite a bit from Halo. George Broussard himself admitted to this. From the using of quick throw for the bombs and nades, to the two weapon limit, to the gameplay mechanic of having the aliens come in drop ship waves, to a number of other elements including the regenerating ego health, these are things taken specifically out of Halo's book. Whether someone has a problem with this is up to each individual.

What's worse is George called those mechanics "modern shooter innovations that we'd be foolish to ignore" which is crap.

Interesting... I pointed this out to others at GearBox and it is ignored or explained away as something GearBox did to the game. Because I don't feel like finding where I read it, I don't argue it... but what you just quoted I distinctly remember.

The 2 weapon system was "in" before GearBox was in the picture in my opinion and to the best of my memory.

Your memory serves you well.

I just chewed out a bunch of people at the GBX Forums for pointing fingers the wrong way.

I had to come up for air... GearBox is shameful right now.
It will be better soon when most of the angry people leave.

A point I will re-state here, even though it is NOT much of a problem on this forum, is this... If some come in the forum and gives their Dukeicide notice and bitches etc. Ok. I can deal with that. I am truly sorry they can't enjoy the came and it wasn't for them etc. But then THE DON'T LEAVE!

I guess if I committed "Dukeicide" I can't imagine punishing you guys over it because you still like it... that just means you are a jerk in my opinion.

To me that would be like going to a country music forum and getting mad at everyone because they don't like Prince. That is how this feels right now.

I am NOT talking about anyone who is really unhappy with the game and is just talking about it... I mean the extremists like the dozens at GearBox right now.

I wish Forums were 3D FPS's sometimes... so we could just Rocket Launch people... would it solve anything? Probably not, but it sure would be fun to gibb some people. "It is always better to gibb than to receive" :(

This made me laugh my ass off, there is shit EVERYWHERE, but the toilet is sparkling clean, OMFG SO FUNNY B)

Just to clarify: funny in the sense of the situation, not funny in the sense that the game has a flaw which doesn't allow the shit stains to stick to the toilet :( not trying to bash the demo AT ALL
