I'm Speedy Eggbert. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY!

Some of you might already know me from around the forums and I've tended to keep my personal side of life on the down low. My Duke Nukem 3D mapping addiction started around 1997-1998 when I realized the most valuable tool on the Duke Nukem 3D CD was the build.exe map editor. Knowing that it was possible to build my own Duke environment I was hooked immediately. This was the next best thing since Lego!
This was something I’ve always wanted to do especially with the Apogee Wolfenstein 3D game but I never knew how I could find the editor because I was always playing on someone elses shareware.
During 1997/1998 I released dozens of custom user maps for Duke 3D which never really got much exposure because they weren't great maps. But I see some of the guys over at scent-88 are somehow stumbling across them. Anyway, during my earlier years I actually spent a good portion of my free time devoted to Duke mapping. It was only when it became overwhelmingly addicting I had to force myself to shy away from it as I was losing all track of time and not doing what I needed to do which was to focus on school work.
Going forward in 2011 I felt strong nostalgia for Duke Nukem 3D especially after playing the recently released DNF which I’ve been itching to play since 2000. Disappointed with its out come I loaded DosBox and re-installed Duke3D. It wasn't long after that, the itch for Duke mapping returned. After taking 11 years away from Duke I decided to test my skills at mapping once again and I released my first custom Duke map called RCPD.map in Nov. 2011. It was amazing how much of it I still remembered. After posting my map to the public at the DN Repository some nice forum people directed my attention to the Duke4.net website. It was here where I was acquainted with EDUKE and Mapster and the transition from build to Mapster was seamless. I was very amazed at how closely the developers of Eduke work and communicate with the general public and how friendly and welcoming they are.
When I learnt that I could now build maps with rooms over rooms I was seriously hooked because this meant I could now do things I always wished I could do in the earlier years of Duke but couldn’t. My old original build maps were always trying to simulate room over room.
Well thus far I’ve released several ok maps maps such as: Atomic Arena, Brooklyn Bridge, and I’ve worked with Micky C. on Parkade.map a joint mapping venture and in my opinion the best user map I’ve been associated with so far. At the moment I am still mapping in my free time while trying to improve my level design and game play so my maps can be fun to play even down the road when Multi-player becomes a reality.
March, 1st 2013 to mid April 2013 I travelled over seas to the Philippines to meet my finance whom I had not met in person. Actually, we met online back in 2002 in some random yahoo chat and I kept in touch with her over the years as friends, until I asked her to marry me in 2011. 2011 was a big year for me “Duke Nukem” & “Engagement”!
The Philippines is such a great country on so many levels and I would encourage anyone who wants an eye opener to go visit. The Filipino’s have a great culture, the people are genuinely friendly, family oriented, polite and loving. While there are some nice touristy areas I spent the majority of my stay in Manila which is the heart and capital of the Philippines. There is an amazingly high unemployment rate and poverty like I’ve never seen before. It truly was a humbling experience.
As I wait for my wife to come to Canada I have the intentions of releasing one maybe two more user maps before I take another break from mapping. I’m sure when my wife gets here she will keep me pretty busy.
Our Philippine Wedding
Thanks Hank, you're pretty quick on the draw!

I tried learning a mapster recently, but just couldn't. Makes me somewhat sad reading this. Why the hell I never tried it in 2000s when I was playing duke maps all day. But now I just don't have a desire to learn it.
