Annual software license fees

I'm just curious but why do some companies have annual license fees? I men I already paid $50 for something let's say, why would I need to pay $50 per year to use it? For example, Windows, you pay a one time fee, that's it.

Because that's a corporate contract. Pay annual fee and get an unlimited(or a big limited shitload) number of licences for various MS products. Companies might have several thousand of users, servers etc. Although, I haven't seen the contract itself to be 100% sure.

Plus there may be additional product support contract which isn't free of course.

Now there's software so called SAAS, which means software as a service, in their point of view, you are not paid for their software but their services, so there's monthly fee, annually fee.
