Again, how long(if I may ask) does a project liks this normally take? I'm interested in some of the more technical stuff as well.

It all depends on your level of skill really. There are so many variables. Just making the wire armature took me 5 hours.

If you work on it every day you might get it done in 2 weeks.

As for me I work on it on my spare time.

Cool. So do such sculptures ever get hard fired or not? And when is it done? Each time you complete a part of it or at the end?

You only bake it when you're definitely sure that it's done. Although you can bake it, add more clay, then bake it again, etc. It will have a different kind of darkness because the already baked parts will look darker than the new ones, but it doesn't matter if you only care about the copies that you mould. Or if you're going to cover the original with paint.

Are you going to paint it when it's done or what?

Well what did you think held the brain to the rest of it?

Dunno just thought it was a brain and tentacles with eyes

This sculpture is really quite impressive. Even in it's unfinished state, if you entered it into our first access club code contest I think I'd vote for it.

Thanks TX!

I don't think I'm going to enter because I'm already a member so I'm sure there's someone out there that needs it more!

Added more wire for the armature so the legs stay steady and strong.

Upclose. Added little holes on the Epoxy putty to avoid clay slippage.

After adding a bunch of clay for the belly and making sure the proportions are correct, I start detailing it with the basic shape.

Posted Image

More detail on the belly.

Posted Image

Added the little anus.

Posted Image

And finally added clay to the tentacle armature. This is the basic form. Will add detail later.

Now I see what you meant.

A couple of those reminded me of the brief footage of Duke bench pressing almost

Thats what it reminded me of, the pics of yours with the wires out of the Octabrain. It's the metal and the flesh. I'd just watched it before posting above.

DavoX, that is just amazing to me. You are doing it so quickly too! Too bad you weren't working on Duke Nukem Forever, cause we would have been playing it long ago!

I could certainly open up Blender and try to sculpt one, but I'll spare you that one.

IT'S ALIVE.

Here is the first tentacle, 5 more to go and it's done.

Nevermind the rotated pics, photobucket is acting really strange lately.
