I'm betting that a lot of the wait is to do with the publisher. Randy has seemed very excited about the whole Duke Nukem Forever ordeal. Taking a partially mathematically based guess, I'd say the latest we'd see the release of the demo (if it's released before the game, which it should) would be June 4th. I'm factoring in the delay time between when the FAC will get it and everybody else does and the time before the release of the full game. If the publisher is worried about how well the game will do, it'd probably be likely the demo would be released at the latest time possible before release. Either that or they're just about to do something that's going to blow our minds. Either way, they've got to do something.

Just to let everyone know, for you guys (like myself) who believe the PSN outage is delaying the demo, the PSN will not be up for at least another week.

I'm kinda quoting out of context as Sony didn't deny the possibility, but reading the latest PSN blog update 'between the lines', you can tell we will have to wait a signicant while longer.

I've literally been waiting for as long as I can remember, I'm only fifteen. I remember when I first heard about it, I was checking the 3DR website everyday.

Eh, I could settle for the demo until the game, especially since DNF has gone gold. That's assuming the game doesn't get pushed back for some ridiculous reason, it's already finished, I don't know how they'd delay it another day. I hope so, and it seems likely because even in the game we see Duke holding his own Xbox 360 controller. . I don't know if that has to do with anything, but whatever. I could care less about the PSN version, both of my PS3s are dead.

I'm not even sure if I'll have the will to play the demo. I'll download it, but I just don't know if I'll play it... That probably sounds stupid, but whatever.

I'll stick with a Gold announcement and demo release the same day.

If the game has been in certification for a while and everything goes well with that, we are literally on top
of the gold announcement. I think this week or late next week at the very latest we should get that news.

Gold means sending out the master DVD to make all the copies, right?

Spir- the game *is* finished but Gearbox is waiting for the certification from MS and
Sony. MS and Sony were most likely given a "release candidate" from Gearbox. Release
candidate meaning a build of the game Gearbox feels is ready for mass production. If
the game passes cert., 2K and Gearbox will announce it gold(en)-the game is ok for
release. That's what we want to hear.

I should add that the publisher also internally tests the release candidate for any major game
breaking bugs(making it unplayable). Generally the release candidates are ok though and
they're announced gold.

Seriously, am I the only one who believes the PSN being down is playing a part in this?

For instance a launch agreement that all platforms get the game/demo on the same date would prevent an Xbox or PC version being released if the PS3 version couldn't be. Look at GTA4.

Imagine the uproar from the PS3 FAC if the Xbox and PC crowd gets the demo first.

Not GBX's fault, but you can certainly understand if they are delaying it for this reason.

He was posting that in relation to the PSN network outage (a user complaining that PS3 users could get the demo last). Would you not think it's safe to say that it's official info? He's hardly going to post something as direct as that if he was just speculating?

He's a mod who used to be a mod also on the original 3DRealms forum. He got 'grandfathered' in to the GearBox forum when they took over. He know's nothing official, he isn't an employee, and all he does is speculate. I will bet my first born that he was talking out his ass when he said that. He doesn't know what is going on internally at all, never liked that guy. *grumble*
