Seems that this was the cause of my Windows sitting at the boot screen for 5 minutes or more. I guess the salesman forgot to mention that this is not compatible with Windows 7.

Some idiot is running a leaf blower at 1 AM keeping everyone up.

I want to buy the DOOM complete pack, but I just know if I buy it now at the regular price Valve will come along and create either an early sale or reduce the price nearer to RAGE's release. Also, according to the Steam forums, I need DOSBox for the older games, so I'll have to sort that out.

Why would they release DOOM on Steam and not let it work on its own? I didn't know you could buy games on Steam that aren't Windows (or Mac, for that matter while on Mac).

For that matter, can you buy a game on Steam that won't work on your computer? Do they compare your system specs to the requirements before installing? I have never had to try since my computer kicks ass (compared to most system specs) and if I want to play an older game I probably already have it and I have to fiddle with it on my own.

Think my next monitor upgrade will be a multi-monitor setup. I'm probably one of the few people who has never had dual or triple monitors before. Probably need to get with the times. I know for surfing the net I don't have much use for it, but I also play FSX, so I can turn my single monitor setup into this. I kid, I kid. I don't have that much money.

No you're not. Many people only have one monitor. Personally, I think that 1920*1080 is enough. Higher resolutions alter the performances on the high-end games, and take too much place when you use several screens.

Once you go dual monitor, you can't go back. You get so used to the ability to drag things around, you can't handle a single monitor.

While working on something, I can't have less than 2 monitors. I need a lot of visual landscape for writing and working...

Thing is, if I go triple monitors, then I would have to buy another GTX 570 (for SLI), as well as another power supply (mine is only 850W), plus the monitors. My current monitor is 27 inches, so I suppose two of them would be roughly the same area as three 22 inch monitor's let's say. Okay, maybe a bit less. Probably a more economical solution to have two monitors.

So...Team Fortress 2 went Free to Play today... Does this mean buying the game won't get me any benefits? I'm only asking because I don't play it much.

However, I did figure out a benefit to this for Valve: People who were cursory interested in TF2 will now have to instal Steam if they haven't already.

So does free to play mean that i can play it forever or does it have a limit on how long its free?

You can't buy it on Steam. It's free there. Of course if you don't plan to buy it in physical store. I doubt there'll be any bonuses.

Well, those who bought it received a "proof of purchase" hat. Personally I think a discount offer on the premium membership would a preferable alternative...

I imagine the only people who need to be pissed are the ones who purchased it recently. Those who bought it a while ago hopefully got their money's worth.

A "proof of purchase" hat? Sounds gay. I never understood that hat stuff...but whatever. I may never play the game anyway. I played it over a year ago last with some friends at a LAN party.

Has anyone else been unable to get to the Blender website (blender.org)? I haven't been able to get to it for a few days now. I've been wanting to update my current version but it just hangs while trying to load the page. I can't even get a 404.

Are you suggesting that we shouldn't start using two monitors if you haven't already?

The colors and blacks on these monitors look amazing. It's like playing games on my plasma TV. The old monitor had a 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. These have an 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

Acer S242HL I believe.

While I was lugging these things home on the train, some people seemed to be a bit jealous of me with the monitors. Giving me some looks. One guy was tsking at me. Someone's jealous. Also I find when someone tsk tsks me that it's kind of annoying.

Does the phrase "once you go black you won't go back again" imply that one should be having relations with a black man? :)

I mean, I like having two monitors because I'd rather that than a single large screen at a measly 1080p like some people. It is all personal taste.

I'd need another video card if I wanted to go beyond 1080p though.

I think someone just pissed on my deck. It's not raining. Only lasted maybe 20 seconds, then it stopped. I don't think it was water.

I need to find something to do for 9 months before Mass Effect 3 comes out. That's a long time.

Did you know that Ancient Greek has a perfectly good word for "leather dildo"? Fascinating things you learn reading Greek comedy...Aristophanes, where have you been my whole life?

So when I was going home from work yesterday, some woman was eating Cheetos on the train, and accidentally spilled some on the floor. She then picked them up, and threw them out the train window. Freakin' litterbug.

As someone said on The X-Files, man is nothing but an animal. No better, no worse, than those that walk on four legs.
