Can you help me, please?

This summer me and my family was on vacation in Italy, we rented a car, and we got a parking ticket here. We supposed to pay for it in the local post office, but we couldn't find it. Instead we find a local municipality with a couple of policemen in there. We asked them if we could pay the fine here, they said sure. We executed the payment for one fine in two parts, since he made a typo in the machine. So he gave us a receipt, and we assumed that everything is fine.

Yesterday, we got a message from a rental car service - it turns out that they still charge us this fine. We attached the receipt, here's what I wrote to them:

I already paid this fine at the local police station on 12/08/2019.
I regret that I did not report this when I was returning the car.
I'm attaching a fine receipt and payment receipts from my VISA card No......
Please confirm with a return letter that you have no claims against me.

Then I got this message:

We thank you for contacting our Customer Service dpt.

Having executed the payment in two parts to arrive at the exact amount to pay, this was not registered correctly by the command. Also on the receipts of payment, in the attachment, none of the information is present required by the commands for the correct association of payments, such as the number plate, date, time and the number of the verbal.

Reason why we were notified of the report.

The Council sign. *my surname* to contact personally the Municipality of Maiori, issuing body, making its situation known to have the possibility to register the two payments to correct practice, the report no. P01022717.

Once the payment registration is confirmed prior to the date 21/08/2019 (date on which the Municipality notified the report to us), he can contact us for the cancellation of the adm fees, that at the moment remain due.

Do not hesitate to contact us again for any further assistance you may need.

What "The Council sign" means? Do I have to contact the Municipality now, or I did this already?
What do they want from us? What do the want me to do?

I know it's not the best place to complain about this, but I just can't translate all of it correctly. I need to understand what they say and what they want asap. I hope you can help me guys.

They want you to contact the station (in the Municipality of Maiori) where you originally paid the fine and have them send you (or the rental company, but definitely get a copy for your own records) proper verification that the fine you paid was specifically for that ticket - as the receipt you sent them didn't list that information.
(and it sounds like since there were issues with the original payment - it wasn't registered as "paid", so it's still an active ticket).

I haven't dealt with Italian police before, but if they give you a difficult time about clearing it up, then cancel the first payments on the credit card (if possible) & pay the rental company their admin fees.

I can't cancel these payments right now and by comprasion, the fine was only 28 euros back then. The company wants 45 euros for the admin fees + I still have to pay for this ticket (unless there'll be a proof that I already did it). It's a whopping amount of money for something like this.


P.S. Italy sucks, narrow one-way roads everywhere and horrendous parking.

Yeah. Best to get the ticket issue cleared up. Especially if you plan on visiting Italy again for whatever reason.

Side note, if you do France, skip Paris. It was crowded and smelled like piss back in the 90's. I can only image how bad it is now.

Same with Italy; skip Rome. My most memorable experience was visiting Gay Street right outside the Colosseum. Very over-crowded area, dozens of gay bars, and weed everywhere (got offered it like 3 times in one minute). Maybe I'll go again anyway one day just to party, haha.

You can say the same pretty much almost about every single capital of European countries.

Small towns are better everywhere, to be honest, even in Japan, although Tokyo is not that bad, there is no faggotry and many places worth visiting. The biggest downside are prices, however, Tokyo is a very expensive city, so I would recommend to visit different cities and towns.
