The funniest part about them is that they at the same time know what's better for you.

Considering how much it's getting "celebrated" I don't think so. They ignore it for narrative purposes.

Which is a shame, really. I'm not American, but even I would know better than let's say Ilhan Omar, and not make stupid comments. To ignore it, is a shame for any American. I'm mean, here is my look as an outsider, but man those people died, had nothing to do with politics, and yet you ignore it and make stupid comments. They should be ashamed.

most liberal progressives in the u.s. don't remember or care about the 9/11 attacks that happened on their own soil, let a lone what they view as a minor conflict in some obscure part of the world (if they even know about it). Most people here under 30 can't even point out Hungary, Romania, Serbia, or the Ukraine on a globe without using an app on their smart-phone.

Yeah, so most of them. <_<
Joke aside, I remember when I was in school and you needed to know almost all of the 50 states, the largest lakes, rivers, and other stuff, and we are in Serbia. I'm mean come on, I've met people that didn't know that Turkey is a country. You had to know some basic geography and history or else you would considered dumb. I'm a bit of a history buff, and may know a little more, but that is no excuse for not exploring and reading about some things more.

And also want to tell you what to think, read, watch and who to support. They act like it's their god given right to say to you what to do and think.

But the thing is that i may sound a bit too much extremist and too pro-Russian, and even more pro-Russian compared most of Serbs, is probably because that i am also partly Russian.

Nothing wrong with that, it's actually kind refreshing to hear what other people think. Too many silencing and censorship around these days, you can't even make a joke without someone being offended. Nobody wants a discussion, but everyone wants to be heard.

Quote

As you said they are just normal people like everyone else.

Yeah, I liked Americans more when they were loud, proud, and could stand up for themselves. Today with all of the PC going around, I can see them walking around on eggshells trying not to offend anybody. Wasn't one of the main advantages of the US that you could speak your own mind? First they want to take away guns, and now free speech. One of the reasons I like Duke is that he spoke and was uncensored while doing so. What happened to the whole "Land of the free, Home of the brave" thing?

Carter created it
Clinton w/cigar let it get away and did nothing about it
Obama & Clinton w/vagina refused to call it what it is
New breed of democrats pretend it never happened

On some college campuses its not allowed speech to say that "America is the land of opportunity" or "If you work hard and play by the rules you can succeed." Its offensive to those who are lazy or otherwise a victim of something. <_<

Probably. There's a lot of divide-by-zero bugs in that incredibly sloppy NPC code of theirs.

I get what you are saying, and not everything is always fair. But, in my opinion, and don't get me wrong, you can't stay mad at US forever. It's bad for the health, and for the soul. And, you know what's the worst thing about all this: Nobody in the US, doesn't remember and doesn't care. They have so many active wars and conflicts, that they don't even remember the bombing that lasted for 3 months, 20 years ago.

Some of us remember and were opposed to the military intervention at the time. A majority of Republicans voted against Clinton. The senate vote was 58 to 41 in favor of Clinton's bombings, so there was significant opposition. People have a tendency to view other countries as monolithic and represented by their leaders' policies, which of course isn't true.

I honestly and truly believe that any individual, group, nation, etc absolutely has the right to defend themselves, the right to arm themselves with whatever means they deem fit and can afford. Even outright hostile nations like North Korea or Iran, but also if Elon Musk wants a nuclear missile silo, good for him! He'll build a better one than any government would.

People always counter this belief with the argument "But we can't trust everyone with these weapons! We have to limit others!"

When in fact the truth is that we can't trust anyone with these weapons. Anyone who speaks otherwise has been brainwashed by a big bully with power to enable them to keep their power, and make sure no one else gains any power.

I am not a Russophile, in fact, I bust their balls on the regular. But they absolutely have a right to defend themselves and bear arms, and that includes cutting edge experimental weaponry.

While I don't defend Putin in any way, I would say I agree with this up until the point of 1) Allowing openly radical-muslim or communist countries to own nuclear weapons, and 2) Allowing private citizens to own nuclear weapons (even in the early days of America, state laws banned citizens from owning heavy artillery like warships and canons).

View PostHendricks266, on 25 April 2019 - 09:57 AM, said:

We're not. The US nuclear arsenal is aging and most efforts are focused on maintaining the tech we already have. Don't forget that your favorite president is the one responsible for withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, in part thanks to having a chickenhawk like John Bolton as his National Security Advisor.

Backing out of the INF was correct. Negotiating with a country/leader that is continually hostile to American interests is futile and ineffective.

You are missing it.
The higher education peeps do not understand business principles, and no perfessors can teach what they themselves do not understand. From their (socialist infested perfessors) perspective, they are actually correct. Uni Education unequal the American Dream. All you get is questions like: What are my benefits? Is it safe? etc. during those hiring interviews.
I must say Euro-trash ideology won mostly in US Universities. Sad. Really. Just hire peeps from none US educated countries, like Google does, even is Trump gets pissed off, to realize your own American Dream.

I'm happy that someone still remembers. People here in Serbia, always seem to forget this fact, and is usually brought up when it suits their politics.
What bothers me the most, is that while I was growing up, I saw US like our friend, or at least ally. We were allies in the WW1, also in WW2 were we helped saved downed allied pilots, and even cooperated on a few missions, and during the Cold War we had a pretty good relationship with the US. And, when the war came, all it took was 10 years and some bad decisions and our relationship was worsened. The way we were portrayed in the media during that time was pretty bad, but as far as I remember we never did say things like "Death to America" and other insults, even after the bombing. OK, some people did, but not in such a rude way, but nowadays most of as are cool with the US, at least the average person is. It was pretty hilarious when the media defended Iran when they said that "Death to America" isn't an insult to US. Also, because of our good relationship with Russia and China we are viewed as untrustworthy, but the media always forgets that we are trying to join the EU, have regular military exercises with NATO and even provide support in some missions. Anyone that visits Serbia, I'm sure will receive a warm welcome, and it saddens me that the bad politics made both of us lose a good ally, and partner and if you ask anybody, you will probably hear that Serbia is pretty loyal country, at least in my experience. I'm mean people here won't shut up about the time when Russia, China, Japan, or even Norway helped us, because we used to think nobody wants to visit us, or our country because of the portrayal in the media.
Ameri (a nickname for Americans, not an insult) are always welcome here.

I remember. I was deployed to Bosnia with the US army in '95-'96.

The Croats loved us, the Serbs didn't trust us & wanted us to stay away from them, & the Bosnians were about 50% friendly / 50% hostile.
Bosnians were the only ones that threatened to attack us, but a portion of the civilians didn't mind that we were there - we created jobs and gave them some stability.

The US military were always in full battle gear everytime we left a compound while the rest of the UN forces were walking around in t-shirts and shorts. They started calling us the teenage mutant ninja turtles because we always had on helmets and armor vests.
(the norwegians I met were pretty cool, the swedes a bit snobbish, & the russians were pretty crazy)

@Forge the Serbs didn't trusted any Westernians involved in Bosnia War because NATO was involved there too, against Serbs. And yes some Bosnians like Alija Izetbegovic and Naser Oric's probably liked Western poltics because they jsut wanted to butch more Serb civilians, while Bosnian muslims of Fikret Abdic supported Serbs. While the Croats just want to support anyone who is against Serbs, no matter who and why XD BTW, A side of just talking about Srebrnica, not the people just ignore genocide agaisnt Serbs in Srebrinca and Kravice, but nobody mention that Bosnian Croats destroeyd Turkiish-Muslim built bridge in Mostar City. Even of being Muslim creation, it was still beautiful bridge, Bosnian Croats were assholes when comes to this, to destory historical value.

Not genocide, but massacre, but still a heinous crime non the less. Remember the whole genocide trial in the European courts, only for the to rule that neither sides did commit a genocide, both the Serbs and Croats. What a huge waste of money. The people that ignore it, because the truth hurts too much, and will also destroy their narrative and point of view. Like I said, there are no innocent parties in this war, and if someone wants the truth, they can just look it up, either by digging a little deeper, or just by reading the court records.
I just wish to leave this stuff in the past, and focus on the future. Too much energy has been wasted. Also, such a shame, that after all the bloodshed, pain and suffering, in the end people just left the Balkans and Yugoslavia and went to live somewhere else. Like one Croat told me, "all this fighting was for nothing, and now we live and work in Germany". The whole war was pointless to begin with.

I spent about 4 months in Gradačac, & eight months in Tuzla. The locals in Gradačac were friendly, but not so much in Tuzla - and none of them really talked about what had went on.
