Yeah, if you take anything from the average 35mm analog film and transfer it correctly, 1080p is not a problem.
Hell, you can probably even go higher than 1080p, since film is designed to be projected onto giant-ass screens worth thousands of pixels (although in the analog world pixels mean nothing and projected displays are meant to be viewed from a reasonable distance).

Although, I have to admit that some movies may look shitty. Finding Neverland has a fantastic problems with mosquitoes in the background. But that's just a shitty transfer.

About Army Of Darkness.
"Still, this hi-def release of the Sam Raimi classic is a serious upgrade from other standard definition equivalents, but a disappointment when compared to other Blu-rays of the same age or older. Nonetheless, fans are sure to enjoy it."

They gave picture quality 2,5/5.
It really is about releases sometimes, not the blu-ray itself. Some dvds also had an atrocious quality compared to other dvd releases. That's why I read reviews before buying.
Btw, Eastern Promises is a 2007 movie. It is bound to have better quality than its dvd counterpart.

I'm on the same boat, but as far as im aware there is no point in having a blue-ray player etc if you don't got the right TV for it as well.

I love the American foundation myths. They are all so happy go lucky and Manifest Destiny. I'm not hating on America; just stating the fact that our country (like many others) is built on lies and violence. The Mexican-American War* was an interesting example of this but I like that we found uranium and the Mexicans didn't get it....the same for the gold in California, but uranium is a little more important in the end.
*"American blood on American soil" was the line...it was contended land so no one knows if it was actually American land.

Why did you quote "Thanksgiving" ? As if thats not what it really is or was. That is exactly what it was.
While you're listing off "our" crimes, and making snarky remarks about one of the few POSITIVE MOMENTS in that part of our history, maybe you should take a second and realise what I was actually referring to is the same bullshit that keeps getting perpetuated, that "we", as in those who had ancestry from that time, were the only ones doing harm. (The small pox blankets, the betrayal of treaties, the executions, driving from land.). Its just not true. I never even tried to imply America was perfect, or INNOCENT of many of those charges, but it is fundamentally BULLSHIT to imply we were the only agressors.
I guess all the settlers that were subject to indian raids, the rapings, the scalpings, the brutality of some of the indian tribes can simply be over looked. I guess the entire myth that we somehow brought violence to them, can be perptuated until culturally America self destructs under the weight of political correctness.
But I guess its better to make everyone who wasnt even alive in those times feel guilty about something we didnt have any say in, to try and appease the descendents of those that did not suffer because of it for no other reason than POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. That's what im referring to.
Many of the indian tribes were no better, they filed us all into one category "The white man." and anytime something happend to them, it was "The white man." who was responsible. They did to us exactly what we did to them, the only difference is we were the victors, and if you want to be a snark, be guilty, thats fine... But dont perptuate a lie that somehow we tricked those "poor dumb primitives" out of everything, because its not true. Many instances of fair trade, and WAR is what established America as it is today.

Yeah, the Mexicans didnt betray us, or deny signing treaties, or commit acts of violence against us did they? Same point, different piece of history. We arent perfect, but we are not Satan. Wars do not occur just because one side is mean and the other side is a victim.
Us white folks are just the devil ya know, we enslaved the blacks, we killed the indians, we stole from the Mexicans, we shat on our British, Russian, Irish, Dutch, and German homelands... etc.
Oh wait, THIS white folk didnt do any of that, yet he's had to do nothing but listen to how shitty American history is, and every Goddamn Thanksgiving there's at least one guy who has to remind everyone "Hey, the indians and settlers didnt get along, and infact there was a lot of brutality and death. Ya know settlers killed a lot of indians, and lied, and were mean and evil!" The point was that for that ONE DAY, there wasnt any blood shed or violence.
Its the symbolism that is important, the message is important. Stop snarking on THANKSGIVING, and instead be thankful you're free, you're healthy, you have loved ones who give a shit about you, and you dont live out on the street, or have a crippling disease, or have to suffer from lack of nourishment. Leave the dark history in the past where it belongs! It ISNT CONSTRUCTIVE to make stupid jokes about things that nobody can change, and nobody alive today has anything to DO WITH.

You guys have a lot of angst regarding the past. Get over it seriously. The same retarded shit happens with me(a turk) and greeks. People need to get over the past. If we all were to be pissed off because of the past I would be pissed at the Chinese for forcing my ancestors to migrate to western europe from asia. Or be pissed off at Arabs for conspiring with the british and stabbing us in the back in WW1.
