I've become enamoured again with the mystery of the conspiracy of Half-Life 3/Ep3. I had a stray thought that said "maybe they're taking so long because they want to release Half-Life 3 on April 1st and call it Ricochet 2." Then I decided to check to see what year April 1st actually falls on a Tuesday (which is when US games are always released). Their last chance was in 2008. I checked the calendar and apparently there is no April 1st that falls on a Tuesday again until.......2025. Another 9 years.

So....that sucks. Either we're in for a really really long wait, or my theory is wrong.

Or it actually is just canceled, which I've already come to accept.

When Team Fortress 2 stop making enough money to pay for itself

(And when Overwatch can be trumped)

Out of all the sequels Valve could make, I feel Team Fortress 3 is low on the list.
There is too much in TF2 that restarting isn't an option right now. They need to port it over to Source 2, which would fix a lot of bugs, add in needed features, and a lot of other improvements. The problem though is it wouldn't be easy or simple to do, and I doubt it would be worth it to Valve at all.
Its somewhat a shame to me that Dota is doing so damn well for them. I'm happy people are enjoying it and its taking off in such a big way, but I just get a feeling Valve doesn't need to make a Half-Life or any other singleplayer campaign because they would never pay as well as Dota or Counter Strike are.

They could release it on April 1st when it falls on a friday, which some games come out on (like new Doom)

Well okay, maybe not TF3. My brother loves TF2 but he was looking for some updated graphics and such for it.

I just got through replaying Half-Life 2 through to completion for only the second time, the first time being way back in 2004 upon release. It is still an awesome experience after all these years, and I was surprised by how much of it I did remember. Now to go and replay episodes 1 and 2 and continue the fun, and also the lengthy wait for Half-Life 3!

What ever happened to Half Life 2: Episode 3 anyways? As I understand it the episodic content was to last 3 episodes.

Well, initially that was the plan. Then Valve said they were abandoning the idea of episodic releases. They were supposed to be released within 6 to 8 months apart. Yeah. Everyone now just assumed that the closure of the current combine story arc will just be called Half-Life 3 instead of Episode 3.

They were honestly trying to make 3 episodes, and outsourced a 4th episode to Arkane that was going to be Ravenholm-ish. Screenshots of episode 4 exist, too.
They wanted to make episodes as it would be faster for them to make tinier bite size versions of a game than to release a full game that would take several years to do (which is laughable in hindsight) Newell even said they should've actually named them Half-Life 3: Episode 1, etc etc. As they saw them as pieces of a full game.
Episode 1 was a bit of a continuation of HL2 and didn't add too much new (personally I love the hell out of the hospital section), Episode 2 had a lot of new mechanics and locations, and Episode 3 was supposedly going to be even bigger.
It was a case of Valve trying to do too much. They had a teaser for Episode 2 in Episode 1, but then Valve realized how much changed from the teaser to the actual game, so they didn't bother with a teaser for Episode 3. And then the cliffhanger of Episode 2.

That cliffhanger just makes it hurt so much more. After being so helpless and then having that happen. You are drowning in sadness, sympathy, and fueled with rage and want to do something about it right away. But there was no game to take it out on or enact vengeance. Very frustrating lol.

Thought my GPU was failing on me, but turns out it might be a cable or a monitor.

Wonder if it has something to do with Acer not having Windows 10 compatible drivers for this device (S243HL). Still using Vista drivers which aren't even 64-bit compatible either.

After years of testing, problems with allergic reactions and countless hours of agonizing pain I was finally given stomach medication that worked.

Now, a few weeks later, I find my dose has been reduced without anybody saying anything to me (so technically, I've been using more than prescribed because I didn't know. In the case of this drug, this is not at all dangerous so is of no real concern, some people take a much higher dose for years on end). Upon asking, it appears they plan to take me off the medication in a few weeks leaving me right where i started. Three days on the lower dose and my pain is returning, my airway is inflamed from acid flowing into it and I feel dizzy just like I did before I started the medication.

What was the point in all that effort to test it out if all they're going to do is take me off it to wind up where I started? You'd think I liked going around like this or something.

Sounds like the VA medical system. They don't give a fuck about the patients at a personal level - they're just numbers. They have to spend X amount of dollars per quarter to justify their budget, but they're not allowed to go over-budget, so they put everyone on the roller coaster treatment plan according to what they can spend vs. what they need to spend.

So far as I am aware, they will prescribe it again without too much fuss outside of an otherwise unnecessary visit to the GP. Supposedly they get paid by the NHS for every prescription they write, so you can't help wondering if by cancelling the repeat and then having to write out a new one they're getting more money out of the system.

Of course, Sonic's family depends on what canon you're referring to. He really should have clarified which timeline he was in before he died.
