Another place I went to, but didn't get a picture of (left it at the rental place) was the main power generation station for Saskatoon. Produces up to 430 MW of power.

Just think if that much power had to be generated by wind turbines. According to figures I have seen, your average 200-300 foot high turbine is rated for 2megawatts of output under ideal conditions. But when you factor in the days when there is little to no wind or when it is too windy and the brakes must be engaged, their effeciency drops to roughly 30 percent. So figure 3 turbines for every 2 MW produced. That means 645 turbines needed for the same output as this plant in Canada. How many square miles of landscape wold be needed for this huge wind farm? And who would want that eyesore in or near their city or county? Plus you would still have to keep the existing plant intact and running year round as a backup during down time for the turbines. How can the global warming nutjobs think this is the answer to save the planet?

You don't understand, Mark. We can power the world off wind turbines. We just have to use less power. And that means no more cars... Everyone can take a bicycle or the light rail. Wouldn't that just be wonderful?

But we have to do all this in two years or we're doomed, according to Al Gore.

Actually we have passed the "tipping point" a few times already and the "point of no return" just within the last few years. Not a single prediction has come true since the nutjobs started this scam back in the 80's. Why anyone believes this crap is just a shame. I don't want to tie up this thread so I'll leave it be. If someone starts a serious thread in favor of the junk science of global warming I'll certainly continue there.

Not a single prediction? You mean the changing sea level, massive droughts, unmanageable fires, weird weather patterns, increase in average global temperatures, changes to the jet stream, etc etc.

Oh shit wait it all happened and is still getting worse!

Right now the US, Russia, and Canada are scrambling to claim as much territory as they can up north in case there's lots of oil deposits. Mmm sweet petrol. Also some nice new trade routes are opening up.

You're right. None of those things ever happened before man indusrialized. Silly me. :)

But seriously, how can you believe the drivel after Climate gate exposed the climate scientists for the liars and frauds they were. Or U.N. officials admitting the real reasons for promoting the scam and that it has nothing to do with science. Its about social justice.

Do a Google search similar to " failed global warming predictions " and read a handful of sites. Some are better than others with longer lists. Al Gore does nothing to help their cause either.

If you go by scientific accuracy... but the public gets the idea of a movie-like instant catastrophe from the media and politicians.

As we all know, the mass market media is the best way to communicate scientific ideas. After all, when the Ebola scare happened, Rise of the Planet of the Apes was the foremost source of medical knowledge, because it let us know that we could all die of a crippling epidemic (even though the virus was proven to be not airborne... but details, details!!!). Not to mention Donald Trump being anti-vaccine, and he's a businessman, so you know he's rich because he's smart, so he's probably right.

Come on. Everyone knows the best source of information for everything is the movies. The movies teach us we can fire two guns at once and be more powerful and more accurate than someone with one gun; that we can make people of the opposite sex fall in love with us within an hour and thirty minutes even if they have every reason to hate us at first; or that stereotypes and archetypes on the whole tend to be 99% true - except when they're subverted at mostly predictable moments.

Doesn't it just make you want to Wilhelm scream?

I just realized the variety of animals that serve as live feeding to snakes and turtles on YouTube. Rats, mice, chicks, gerbils, rabbits, squirrels, cats, and so on...

Here. But I am fine with it, feeding with cats is no worse than rabbits or rodents.

I must be a glutton for punishment. Yesterday I bought a non-working 16 channel mixer. I knew it wouldn't be easy to get at stuff but I didn't dream it could be this much effort. After about 40 screws just to remove outer and inner covers I now have the daunting task of having to remove all 190 knobs from the front panel to be able to remove and access the circuit board behind it. Depending on what I find or don't find wrong on that board I may have to get to the rear board which involves removing all 65 nuts and 32 screws for the input jacks. Then, when I get to those boards I have to deal with tiny surface mount parts. I'm thinking this will be the first and last mixer I work on. Luckily I bought this mixer for a very low price which leaves room for lots of profit. I have a pretty good idea where the problem is, its just a big ordeal to get to it.

Problem found and fixed. Now to put it all back together. ( and ignore the extra screws when finished :) ) Whew. No small wonder why music stores demand big bucks to fix these things. But from what I read, these are one of the most popular small mixers in the last decade for small bands and studios.

That's strangely what everyone is saying about windows 8 and 10 PC's.

This just in: The "Happy Birthday" song is now in the public domain thanks to a judge's ruling just handed down. A victory against a greedy record company.

I was referring to taking rubbish off the side of the road, not the laptop itself :)
