PAXAus is pretty fun, haven't tracked down Dave Oshry yet but his hours are numbered :)

The most fun has probably been the interaction between the Indie developers and their fans. The Gearbox stall is pretty shit as expected.

http://en.wikipedia....i/Pseudoscience

"Pseudoscience is a claim, belief or practice which is falsely presented as scientific, but does not adhere to a valid scientific method, lacks supporting scientific evidence or plausibility, cannot be reliably tested, or otherwise lacks scientific status.[1] Pseudoscience is often characterized by the use of vague, contradictory, exaggerated or unprovable claims, an over-reliance on confirmation rather than rigorous attempts at refutation, a lack of openness to evaluation by other experts, and a general absence of systematic processes to rationally develop theories."

So by definition psychiatry is obviously a pseudoscience.

For instance OCD is likewise bullshit. Apparently washing hands is a symptom of a mental disorder.

"does not adhere to a valid scientific method"
"cannot be reliably tested"
"an over-reliance on confirmation rather than rigorous attempts at refutation"

you are the proof, lab rat

you can't help by voice your preoccupations over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over

classic perseveration/hyperfocus symptoms.

you suffer the symptoms, but don't like to be labeled. you're like the fat kid who keeps claiming to be 'big-boned'

You're both wrong, we are in a computer simulation and none of this exists.

You're seriously telling me you never did anything mean to a Sim? Everybody lets the house burn down at least once.

my wife has that first Sims game around here somewhere. I used to make a house, then invite all the neighbors over one at a time so i could trap them, drown them, burn them, whatever. I collected ghosts until my wife got mad at me for killing off all her character's friends and romantic interests.

It just came down to me that there is a second Alligator in the infamous Dust Hill Zone:

That image is proven to be a mockup anyway. That level was never in-game.

Dave is very cool but he still thinks I am a weirdo so I suppose I will have to settle for that :)

Razer booth is trash and embarrassing, making people do awkward dances and blasting Gangnam Style. When you can't hear Gangnam Style, the LoL area is just as loud and I still don't understand how that game works.

One of the developers said "I think that Dust Hill was completed entirely". And the level was later ported to Sonic CD before being scrapped again.

Dude, that's entirely wrong. The developer you speak of was interviewed poorly with leading questions, and there is no evidence to support what she said, including a wide range of prototypes.

There is no evidence Sonic CD ever had a desert level.

The data for that "Desert Dazzle" level has been found in the PC port.

That mock-up has more stuff than Wood Zone, which barely has any decent artwork. So it's not hard to believe they had the level in-game.

That level, art, and name are entirely creations of The Taxman for the 2011 version.

Like I said, the "PC port".

It always looked more like a Sonic 1 level than Sonic 2 one to me in that the tile sizes appear larger. Sonic 2 was a mess anyway, Sonic 3/Knuckles was way better.

In the original PC port of Sonic CD, the level directories go from R1 to R3, and if you edit the ini file to enable debug and stage select, the drop down menu does the same thing.

Check out this stunning image of the earth, taken by China's Chang'e 5-T1 spacecraft as it rounded the far side of the moon. Goes nice as a desktop background.

So I probably should use the Duke 64 site for the PSX port too. But what should I call it then?

Edit: My first idea is "Duke Nukem Fifth Generation".

This is gold. Here in Brazil the (now former) president provided asylum to a extreme-left italian terrorist because... he is left-winged. To give you an idea, the political party that has been in power for over a decade is full of far-left militants who admire Fidel Castro or Ugo Chavez. So apparently now Italy, if not all European countries, is providing asylum to virtually any criminal under the excuse of the poor conditions of brazilian prisons (which is true).

I have now practised with several existing negatives of varying quality, including one from around 1996-1997 when I was really shit at taking photos that was developed but mostly not printed by the lab. Seems I can manage to successfully scan and color correct around 83% of all negatives scanned. One of the pictures that was never printed was the nuke symbol from the Duke Nukem Atomic Edition intro animation (I didn't own Atomic until years later, the kid over the street had that and I was obviously impressed by it).

Now that I know I can successfully view the contents of a developed negative with the correct colors, I think it's time to order some stuff and develop those undeveloped films so I can find out what - if anything - they contain. Probably more pictures of floorboards, my finger in front of the lens and abstract colors that aren't in focus, but whatever, it should be fun... On the negative side (pun intended) I have to modify a paterson reel as they appear to have stopped producing reels for 110 film a couple of decades back and I cannot find any second hand - yeah, no prior experience developing film and I have to modify components of the developer tank.

Think I'll grab a cheap 35mm film and snap random shit with my old Halina AF 35mm first, be good if I could get some of that shorter film insurance people used to use, it'll come out crap because my 35mm camera is flogged out but if I can develop that successfully I will then move on to the old films - that way, if I screw up, I haven't lost anything as I really won't care about that contents of this film, which is most likely going to be 27 shots of my living room because that camera typically gets 27 photos out of a 24 exposure film.
