Or maybe you're being too optimistic about future date. Also, define "couldn't get a girl". Did you try and every girl said "no" to a simple date(cafe, movie etc.)?

Not that I'm an expert or even experienced in that kind of thing... :)

Yeah, four weeks? That is a MASSIVE flake-out window. Anything could happen between then and now.
"Oh, I know we were supposed to date but there was a family emergency," "I slept in too late," "I found this REALLY great guy who happens to be in my town, and he's a Marine!"

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

@ Achenar - Maybe she is out of town? Maybe she is out of the country? Maybe she has work commitments forcing her to stay were she is, like cops, hospital doctors etc? Just saying.

Perhaps my own experiences have led me to have little faith in people when the latter seems to be more true than not.

Sure - my life was not roses either - but the very moment I followed my heart, things worked out, for me. I found what I needed and what she needed. It took 54 (32 her) bitter years. So believe me I understand you as well. Posted Image Keep on looking.

Haha, I think I've found the one, there's just a lot of obstacles in the way right now that I'd rather not go into too much detail on. The issue is not whether or not the feelings are mutual, because we know they are; it's more of a severe logistical problem. I may have mentioned it a few pages back.

Ah, logistical problems - sure, they exist. For starters, she is a woman and I am a man. We come from two totally different cultures. And so on. The bottom line for me is, she does understand the hurdles we will need to face and is willing to go through them. No guaranties of course but hope for the future.

This will be my last post for a while. Posted Image

Timezone-wise when exactly it is supposed to end?

Chichen Itza is UTC-6, so presumably it would be at midnight Central Standard Time.

I'm sorry but what exactly is wrong with being excited or hopeful? I'm a big boy, if things go tits up I can handle the negative emotions. There is no need for these dickish negative responses.

Good luck, Sang. I've been having a time myself. Been asking this one girl on dates for weeks, but she keeps flaking. Which is something that doesn't bother me and I'm quite used to.... however she's even asked me on dates and flaked out of those too. Which makes it even stranger. I've known her for years and she's always been a real shy and anxious person. She works just about every day, so she uses that as an excuse not to go out, but I think she really would like to. Strange situation to me.

My situation is a bit different, we're both somewhat lonely people who are really into eachother (really I just have to see if our online conversations would flow as well IRL, that would absolutely seal the deal for me) with very matching personalities.

I'm not the kind of guy who would flake on dates (and I guess she is not a girl like that either but time will tell).. My philosophy is more: if I want something I go for it. I don't waste time on pretending not to be interested in hopes that it will draw more women to me out of some idea that they want to be with a guy who ignores them more. Maybe it's true, but it's not the kind of thing I like to do.

So yes, I get excited when a woman with whom I really seem to click wants to meet, even if its a couple of weeks off. Do forgive me. :)

I'm not sure where this fits in with Duke Nukem since Duke Nukem doesn't wear a cape. And I couldn't take Batman serious before this video but here's a video I think everyone on this forum should see. The Dark Knight Rises... Again!

So I'm thinking I need to get my GF a present for christmas, and it'd be more personal if I make it. Plus, she doesn't come back here until mid-February so I have plenty of time. I'm contemplating making a simple Duke map lined with photos of her and us together, and you can walk around and look at the photos. It won't be anywhere near as nerdy as my last present...

If you've been together long enough and you think it's safe, go for it.

I can't think of a better place to put this, but for about 22 hours (at the time of this post) there is an absolutely gargantuan sale on GOG.com. A massive portion of the stock is 50-75% off...

With the exception of Baldur's Gate. :)

this approach is stupid and you'll never meet a person you'll be long-term compatible with. if someone is attracted to you because you ignore them, then they have self-esteem issues

good philosophy. bottom line up front and no beating around the bush. everybody knows where everybody stands and no surprises. the worst that can happen is the person will say no, but at least you won't waste time with a bunch of false pretenses just to break up later on down the road when the truth comes out, personalities start to conflict, and there's already a form of attachment that has been established.
