This is the part where I stay the hell as far away from this thread as possible. I have never, EVER seen a discussion in Israel end well.

Because people want to be all politically correct and defend Israel, but they're a bunch of fucking assholes.

First off, there's a difference between the nation of Israel and its current right-wing government.

Secondly, what on earth is PC about defending the policies of Netanyahu and his Likud party?

Zionism is on par with (military) Jihadism. The American evangelical community has latched on to it because of how they interpret the book of Revelation and such. That has contributed greatly to American politics and international policy.

Yeah if anything the PC crowd sides with the Palestinians.

Slowly colonize and slaughter children, right? Economically oppress a people while claiming to be the persecuted nation? Blow up apartment buildings in the name of national defense?
I have no sympathy for Israel. I have far more sympathy for the Christians and Muslims in the region who are constantly under threat (from each other, grant it, but still).

For their sorry state you can blame them for supporting terrorism. Palestinian Muslims should have no business living in Israel. Israel rightfully seized the West Bank & the Gaza Strip at the end of the 6-Day War. The only mistake they made was not kicking the Muslim populations out immediately. They're a responsibility of Egypt, Jordan and Syria, not Israel.

You're confusing racism with ignorance.

Also wow you guys really think the conflicts between Israel and Palestina nowadays are purely about Jerusalem?

It's been a week since I last saw the Sun. The upshot is that it's been "warm" enough (about 13 degrees celsius) so I haven't had to wear a jacket outdoors.

I had no idea an old fart can feel like a fourteen year old, I actually wandered in front of a truck while dreaming about my new girl, luckily his brakes worked and he was not dray dreaming - all what is missing now are any pimples on my face - checked the mirror - none seen - life is good, damn good.

A word to the wise: make sure you actually keep your wits about you when you're with the girl, if you intend on making your relationship last.

[Checked age in profile] ;)

Anyway, why 14? I thought 17-18 is the right age for that kind of thing. You know, being in love, but not that young for it.

I hate being in love like a 16-year-old. Being in love as a 20-year-old is much better. Experience helps you recognize pitfalls and creates more realistic expectations. Obsessive puppy love can be fun when things are going well but more often than not leads to disappointment - and then you'll be depressed as fuck until you finally get over that obsession. This has happened to me multiple times and I hope I never have to deal with that shit again. ;)

Not really, because I was insulting the intelligence of whoever would claim I hate the people there and not just their stupidity.

Yeah I know that's what you meant. Regarding nuking the entire thing as a solution is one of the stupidest things I ever read, if you were serious that is.

I wasn't serious. Nuking the Middle East wouldn't work, because some other jerk off in the world would take it as a personal attack and nuke everybody else. I myself think we should just ditch Israel and the rest of the Middle East. They've got enough weapons to take care of themselves. They're not our responsibility and it's not our problem. This meddling is what got us in trouble in the first place.

While that's true the situation in the Middle East is still important for strategic and economic purposes in the West. The West rightfully has interest in keeping the region "stable", whatever that means. If the Middle East is left alone maybe stuff could work out fine, but it also could not - and it would have repercussions in the western world. Surely you didn't think these peacekeeping operations and whatnot were just charity?

You're not gonna have peacekeeping operations as long as war makes money and the CIA has vested interest in the drug trade.

America should be more worried about being nuked than thinking in nuking the others. There are people willing to do that.

Why are you guys so obsessed with nukes? I guess it's to be expected at a Duke Nukem forum though :P

War makes money? Maybe for arms dealers. Otherwise that's a pretty good joke. The US has a shitload of debt and one the reasons for that is war is fucking expensive. If war was actually profitable don't you think there'd be a lot more wars? ;)

Anyway... Can you actually have several dating relatioships with a "puppy love/16-yo love"? I thought it was only possible the first time, but then you get burnt and become more cautious and realistic.

Yeah that would be the rational thing to do but of course strong emotions can overpower that. I had it happen more than once ;)

"You must pay attention."
I never implied it makes money directly for the government, but have you ever heard of Halliburton?

No worries. When I'm with her now, I am looking left and right before crossing the street.

@ Burnet - I guess it's not the specific age per se. As found out, at least for myself, age is irrelevant.

This new kitty we got last weekend seems to be a little shy. Unlike Cosmo, she keeps to herself. Cosmo is a very social cat. When he's not sleeping he's usually on me. Sometimes if there's people over, he will sometimes sit and observe the conversation someone is having.

Yeah. Did you miss the part where I talked about economic repercussions? If Halliburton got in trouble this could also be bad news for the US.
