Who needs this stupid autograph anyway? Maybe having bluray or poster autographed is cool but charge even 10$ for this? No way in hell.

For 50$ you could buy whole season of original series in hd. For $280... How many new-gen seasons are out on bluray, 3? Then buy all TOS+NG that are available. (you probably already have those, though)

Hmm, I should probably get around to acquiring 3rd season of TOS.

Yeah, it's much more worth while spending the money on something useful or important than some paper with ink on it.

Shouldn't "worth while" in this case be written as "worthwhile"?

Star Wars Holiday Special
Discussion over

I remember when that came on tv. i was a big star wars fan and i was all hyped up to see it....and then i wanted to gouge my eyes out about ten minutes into it

i don't know which is worse; that or Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park

I can't understand how anyone could be waiting for some "Holiday Special" based on a full-length movie? Kids - maybe, but surely every grown-up knew it would be pretty idiotic given the idea?

Fair enough. But it should have smelled for all above 14-18 as a disaster before even being shown.

Wait a minute... You're like 40+ now? Jeez, and here I though I was chating with some 19 year old. Oh well...

i thought that was common knowledge to anyone who bothers to read my posts. i've stated several times that i've been married for over 20 years and i spent 20 years in the military before i became damaged and wore out my usefulness so they discarded me like so much trash.

being an idiot knows no age boundaries, so i guess it's easy to think i'm in an age group other than octogenarian

back to the previous topic - [granpa mode] times were different back then. no computers & internet, Atari 2600 & VCR's were relatively new and very expensive for the time, three channels on the TV to choose from -four if you count PBS- but it was only on a couple hours a day. So TV was a big part of home entertainment. There were no real video games arcades yet, so going to the movies was one of the more popular things to do when looking for entertainment outside the house. [/granpa mode]

that star wars special was a big deal at the time. the movie was a big hit, the tv network hyped it all up, there's really nothing competing against it on other channels, so anybody even remotely interested in star wars probably sat at home and tried to watch the first five minutes before shutting it off and changing the channel or opening a newspaper.

That's why it was panned as a big flop and goes down in tv history as a disaster. if it happened in this day and age nobody would even notice.

my guess would be yes.

for someone who professes being pc and open minded about allowing people to be themselves Achenar sure has taken issue with your persona and feels it necessary to mention something about it every chance he gets

commence flame war

I have no problem with Cathy's altering persona, though I do find it very curious. At your convenience please directly quote the post I made where I claimed to be "politically correct".

You know, I'm not an expert on Internet etiquette, but couldn't this topic be construed as harassment?

here's an example. there are many more scattered through this thread, skirt length, more clueless voters, that thread from awhile back involving heated discussion over homosexuality acceptance vs. gay bashers, but i'm not hunting them all down

being curious is one thing. just ask and you'll get the answer
constantly pointing it out leaves the impression that there is a problem

Okay, let's play this game. It's been a while since I've had a good old-fashioned flame war and I really don't have anything on my itinerary for today.

Well hell's bells, I never said that I believed it was harassment, and as I said, I certainly never claimed to be an expert on Internet etiquette. Yes, it set off a few alarm bells in my head when I saw certain skirt lengths being associated with being a "whore", a "slut", or a "prude". Where I work, someone could get fired or sued for that. But I'm making no judgment call one way or another, apart from the fact that I don't think it's very respectful to use those terms.

I can't help you if you don't have the patience to look at my apparently "politically correct" posts. Sure, I support LGBT rights and equivalency. But I'm not going to pretend not to notice if someone changes their persona (and apparently their gender) regularly over the course of a mere couple of years. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but to me, there is no evident justification for this. At least, not one that I know of. We learn something new every day.

What I can not understand is how anyone can get exited over an anonymous poster.

So even without getting the official definition of pc -
@ Forge - I can understand to object to a given post, I will never understand to try to personify one or a set of posts and draw a conclusion on the person's character. I need to look you in the eye, and then I make a call on Cool, Stupid, Sharp I don't think this is possible on a forum. All one can do is extract data.

Guys I'm gonna be dead serious now, I'm not going to troll on purpose anymore. I'm a new man with a totally different head on my shoulders, hence the new name.

No more flaming, no more spamming the forums when drunk and no more image quoting. No more console/PC argument taking up the whole thread.

I've made huge changes in my personal life, and I want to here. I know your all thinking WTF? or GTFO! but I had to say it.

Blackharted is dead. Over with. Finished. Gone.

Cheesy speech over.

pc=politically correct

so who's excited and why am i left out of it?

i'm not drawing any conclusions. I'm merely stating that Achenar is normally an open minded and politically correct person when it comes to the subject of people and letting them be themselves without judgement. Constantly making it a point to mention that a man wants to now act feminine is contradictory to his normal behavior.

off point. you wanted me to demonstrate your political correctness and i found one example. there is no specific focus on the subject matter of skirt lengths other than showing that you have pc tendencies.

not everybody drinks the same flavor of cool-aid. it could have a personal, psychological, or emotional "justification". without knowing the reason, you really don't know what effect your comments have. I'm sure if you sent a private message and asked, you'd probably get an answer.

how is your insistent pointing out of the change in someone else's persona my problem?

i'm of the opinion that everybody should not be required to have "thick skin". A little politeness and common courtesy (which is your normal m.o. anyway) doesn't hurt anybody. If that fails, then ignore what's rubbing you the wrong way.

ah well, to each there own. you're going to do what you're going to do regardless of any discussion conducted in a forum

How can anyone feel left out in a public forum?

I think that people change. They grow all the time, sometimes in a wrong direction, but grow they do. If you follow any given poster this should be self evident.
As for a feminine behaviour in a male canvas, this is debatable. The mind can play a powerful role when left unchecked. The perception of a post may emanate a paradox, yet every paradox can be solved.
Finally, what is normal? Average humans are vicious predators and as such I expect the unexpected from a given person. So perhaps one wished to be 'softer', I see little wrong with that.
