It's not a passive aggressive shitpost to say that you generally use the same methodology when doing a comparison. If you did it we could have a conversation. Otherwise we're comparing apples and bananas.

I didn't notice you posting the Last.fm results with artist statements. I mean, I can point to songs from most of the punk artists you posted that are about sex drugs and violence. Except probably Bad Religion. I don't recall anything by them anyway (that wasn't an explicitly political statement). Probably my favorite punk band.

Also the conversation is a weird tangent when I was originally talking about parts of punk subculture (not explicitly/solely music) and comparisons to actions by/culture of black youths. I'm okay with talking about going general musical genre subject comparisons though, but I just want to note that it's getting away somewhat from the argument (or at least the intended argument/comparison).

Edit: This conversation in general has gotten me interested in looking up current music trends and subjects (based on current Billboard charts) since I wonder where the general trend of music subject matter has gone over the last few years. Like, to me it seems that most current music (well, since the early mid 2ks) has been largely about partying (and therefore sex and drugs) or suburban rich kid whining, and mostly lacking in deeper subject matter but that's just my general sense. It's just a general underlying feeling like all of the music is saying, "keep yourself mentally drugged and pay no attention to the people behind the curtains". I'm actually curious to look it over at some point soon and write something about it (broken down by genre).

I only listed a few, and purposefully skipped ones that have an obviously different interpretation and didn't look over discography (or artistic statements). I asked about songs that ENCOURAGE this sort of behaviour. Minor Threat might have sung about alcohol, but they sure didn't encourage drinking it.

Yep, and since no one knows what really happened we have to accept it and move on (even if we disagree). That's how the legal system works, at least in cases where you can't appeal or present new evidence.
