Hmm, I ought to forward that to everyone I know and see if they're stupid enough to try it.

Somebody already did.

My LG Optimus G is basically just an upgraded Nexus 4.

I laughed my ass off when that phone was unveiled, because they basically just unveiled what I've been using for over a year and a half.

Makes no odds to me, I'm still using a Nokia 1100, it still works. Holy shit, I actually use my phone to make phone calls and it is very, very good at that.

So do I. It's one of the reasons this has been the best phone I've ever owned. The call quality is awesome and the signal strength is fantastic, there are times when I have 1-2 bars and I can still send/receive calls and texts whilst no one else is able to.

#14557

Haha, I just discovered the 1100 is still, after 11 years, the best selling phone in history, as well as the best selling consumer device in the world.

I would have thought that the 5110-5125 would have sold more... Those phones were unbreakable.

The 1100 came out when low cost phones were proliferating everywhere, right when it became a global market. I'm not surprised.

Yeah, apparently they sold it to all the developing countries. Either way, it's hardcore and can take a beating... And rob banks... Damn, I must look dodgy, I've got a Nokia 1100 with a reputation for stealing money and a Casio F-91W on my wrist with a reputation for making bombs go off.

In other news, I wonder what this will do;

Given that I just bought it. I have big plans for it if I can get it working.

What would happen if you threw a gas bottle into lava lake?

Now what would happen if you threw in a drum of water?

Was it what you were expecting to happen?

i expected the gas to do nothing since it needs oxygen to burn - and i think there's very little of that right above the surface of the lave

i expected the water to blow up as it turned from liquid to vapor very rapidly

neither of those happened, and what did was kind of weird

Are people this dumb, or am I just that hard to understand?

This sort of thing happens a lot, even happens here every once in a while but that's normally when I write something mildly ambiguous (Such as in the meltdown thread yesterday) whereas here, I think my instructions were clear. Vintage computing communities are the worst anyway. I like the way he thinks pulling one of those RTCs would reset it anyway, given the battery is internal...

Well... The Duke Jet Pack finally exists in the real world. Unfortunately, this guy thinks he's going to set some records. I think Duke has already been there & done that.

Loved that scene.

Without spoiling it (for those who haven't seen it or don't watch X-Files), the episode I'm referring to was in season 7 it was called The Goldberg Variation.

Agreed. VOGONS community is horrible, but as a source of information it's remarkable.

It's the most narrow minded place I've ever been.

@Viper; They're all the same, VCF is probably the worst I've seen. The thing is these people are generally elitist dickheads and can't accept that other people might not think like them... It's quite fun though as they get riled up easily when things aren't done the way they want, aren't IBM, aren't Roland and aren't 3DFX. You ask them why they think that way and then counter they can't come up with any good reason so just attack what you wrote or hilariously destroy any weak argument that they attempt to come up with because what is in their head isn't an opinion to them, it's fact. Damn, I must be the anti-Christ to these people.

Whilst not very sociable, the CPU collecting community are generally a little more decent. This isn't to say everyone in vintage computing communities sucks either, a decent percentage are OK.

Though indeed, some of the information is brilliant and all I usually do is lurk or try to help out, the driver archive is growing too which is nice.

@Hendricks266; Well, we know where you'll be doing all your P2P File Sharing activities from now on.

That connection is just under 300x the speed of my line and upload-wise, closer to 1000x what my line is capable of.

What I like about the VOGONS community is that the DOSBox forum has a sticky claiming that DOSBox is not capable of emulating Windows 3.1.

(Five threads down is a thread about emulating Windows 3.1.)

Was checking article about graphene

http://finance.yahoo...-110000674.html

hardest material known to man.
According to other source it is "100 times stronger than steel".
Mohs scale of hardness for graphene would pass 10 many times.

UPS postal workers need better customer service skills.

If someone is shocked at your shipping rates and pauses for a second to think about it, you don't say "I can't make your decisions for you".

I snapped back at them and said "I don't need you to make my decisions for me".

I tried to work out a compromise and said "I just need a bigger box, because my UPS doesn't fit in the current one (box that came with the new UPS is smaller than the one I got 10 years ago)". She said "we don't have any boxes that will fit this". I said "can't you just take some cardboard, fit it over the current box, and put some packing material in it to compensate? I've seen people do this all the time". She refused.
