GBX owns the IP.

Yes they do, but 2K is the publisher

Posted Image Which means they can only elect to publish what Gearbox brings to the table. They cannot dictate sequels or DLC if they do not own the rights to a product.

Don't you know how any of this works? How do you think that id Software and Valve got away without nickel and diming in the past?

Expanding on what Descent said:

I have to inform you that 2K's DNF production is by license , without any rights to the game other than being a publisher , publishing the game's DVDs (media, marketing, advertisments , global reach , customer support , statistical data mining , brand's reputation/respect ) , your worries or fears can be invalidated as of now , that's because T2 will not and CANNOT change DNF;; a lot of us quit pwnding on gearbox because ... even tho it's not 3DR style , (teen ass bitch marketing cheap photoshop) but they focus on the game and they confirmed a lot of PC friendly features (dedicated servers , no 3rd party platforms on PC , etc ... ) but we "pawn" on 2K's stupid cover box art.

2K is a publisher by it self doesn't mean anything, it only means that not a lot gamers have idea how gaming industry works , mostly because , they don't want you to know and they don't tell you , major stuff and announcements happen in press releases which aren't even intended to be for fans , smart gamers pick those things up to understand how the company works if or how it is trustable and the , 3DRealms forums guys about 100 or 50 of them , they know a lot ... jobi and kaiser soze and KO gilligan (and many more) (and ofcourse duke4.net) , i think those are with duke forever and they knew about the fact that the trailer is coming , you should have visited dukewatch , ... early indications such as hints and posts , but most importantly hard to find , updating of the forums and it's servers , which would mean they're expecting to reveal something but are preparing it of course before it goes online (flip of a switch at a certain date) ... so yeah.

The fundamental fact is , 3DR never lost as media may portray it , 3DR didn't got the best scenario , but im putting this "as close to best" since, they didn't sold the company , and they didn't sold the IP to the publisher , 2 fundamental points. Upon that , gearbox has ~22%(counting triptych) of ex-3DR developers (working on DNF) (that's 2009 refugees + CEO + triptych , there was a graphical presentation how many 3DR employees went somewhere , maybe one some guys here will link to it in the 3DR forums (this is going to be hard to find, best to start searching from may 2009 timeframe and on , it's definitely not in late 2010) ... so i only have a visual memory , about 60% of 3DR dev team left to join gearbox , some ID software and some Epic games (and other but smaller studios ) , some of them unaccounted for and these were triptych guys , 9 of them , + about let's say ~20 + 1 ex-3DR Pitchford , that created gearbox software , + 1 ex-3DR that joined Pitchford as he opened the new company at the time. About 30 people are ex-3DR guys that work on DNF at gearbox currently , got more accurate info than this ?

Things aren't exactly as the contexts says , GB said they found a way through the legal process to keep then-unknown Triptych games (ex 3DR 9 devs) working from homes , but the reality is that this wasn't an issue after all , they could have worked ANYHOW / ANYWHERE without finding permissions , because just after the lawsuit was filled by T2 , T2 was denied temporary restraining order , why ? Because 3DR owned Duke Nukem , and now Gearbox owns duke nukem , there is again nothing 2K can do , they have NO POWER , ZERO, everything that 2K produces must be validated and approved by gearbox software.

Here's the catch , why the heck gearbox accepted the "jersey shore" cover art :/ ask randy xD ; this was confirmed by 2K Elizabeth.

Owning the publishing rights doesn't mean a dog's poo in terms of any control whatsoever.

You can find the mentioned threads on gbx forums, ask if you can't find em , you just need to know which people to pay attention , also a guy named Kipper posts good and important threads that often get a lot of pages.

Keep Following the forums dude (2k , gbx , duke4.net and dukewatch, and ofcourse keep out for, DNF looks better by the minute as far as the game's concerned , we're currently concerned about the in-game menus and interface (2007 looks fine , i don't want dumbing it down) and cover box art , i was banned at gearbox because i challenged their wisdom (PC vs console war) , they did had a cooky marekting strategy but they honestly provided the answers hidden " between the lines" but by the time they answered the main PC questions it was too late for me :( :D Pitchford did provide answers but in a freaking TIME DIALATION over many months, a lot of same stuff all the time too , the important stuff was scattered on many articles , so you actually need to be a hardcore gamer to catch everything and actually have interest to analyze what did they say.

We're also currently targeting 2K at 2K forums , their INFAMOUS cover art which is stereotypical and not in 3DR style at all.

I am actually an old 3DRealms forum user since 2009 but i did posted beofre and i knew about it before , i played DN3D when i was very young , but since then it was RTS and other hardcore games that made me busy , im getting back to Duke nukem , and it's insta-buy for me as well , im actually ... around with a different nickname since that one was old and this is the one im using throughout the whole web , but i won't say who i was , because i was particularly annoying to everyone there (eh forget it) :D

So you should keep a lookout for my posts and other's mentioned as well , you know 3 platforms of community are colliding , specially on gearbox forums, filter out , but most of the time im pleased , it still looks a decent and well informed community overall.

Thread has been re-railed , carry on.

6. Effing. Levels.

There's also this, which shows the turret section from the May 2009 footage is early in the game:

And this, which is just awesome:

I really do like the aesthetics of the club, too.

What is the point of the embargos?

The embargoes are for the videos and written previews. They never said anything about pictures.

I dunno... don't think I would enjoy this very much. I don't think I would want two hot girls watching me play a video game, who are being paid to pretend they are excited about what I'm doing, it woud be veeeeeeery awkward, LOL :(

It's bizzare, all those real DN posters and billboards in Las Vegas - like the game actually came to life. All those photos of titty city all look a lot like the old screens of the casino levels.

I'm starting to think that this is all part of an idea that 3DR had for DNF's marketing campaign way-back-when. It seem outlandish and out there enough to be the thinking of George and Scott.

- Will there be an editor released and how moddable will the game be?
- Will the pc version suffer any limitations due to consoles?
- If the game happens to suck very bad, can I return the game and get back the 14 years that I've spent waiting for it?
- Did they give up on the 2 weapons only mechanic?.........

Great job copy pasting my questions on a topic related to an event that has already happened 2 days ago..............
I guess self-awareness isn't your strong point.
