What you expect from the game is nice and desirable but you have to keep in mind that each person has his own level of experience and his own standards.
As a hardcore fps gamer that has played fps games since wolfenstein 3d, I have to say that DNF didn't impress me at all in all the media that I've seen in the last year.
That being said, I don't hate it nor do I think it sucks. Based on what I've seen until now, I just find it to be an average game...
I haven't seen the game at mana bar but If I were to give a recommendation based on what I've seen of DNF until now, I would definitely recommend that nobody should have more than medium expectations from this game.

Brutal Legend has graphics? LOL... Imo Brutal Legend has the worst graphics that I've ever seen in a long time.

You are free to have your own opinion...
I'm looking at this as a 2011 game, because that's what it is. As such, I'm comparing it to other FPS games recently released and the games expected to also ship in 2011, and while I agree DNF has some nice visual effects going for it, I just can't help but think the actual content itself looks dated.

Sorry, I don't see how I contradict myself... I'm saying there's quantity but not quality, two completely different points. It is very interactive in terms of quantity, like Duke3D was at the time. But the interactivity is very limited, it's like a big collection of little interactive demos, each doing its one little trick, but nothing else. You can't for example take a whiteboard marker away from the whiteboard and draw on a wall. I guess from all the earlier hype and interviews with GB, I got the impression that DNF would allow you to do that kind of thing, so I was a little surprised to see it was quite limited in that regard.

Also there's the rat you can put in the microwave. I would think that the rat isn't inside the microwave already, that you have to pick it up somewere else and put it inside the microwave. That would be different than what you're describing.
I think this game is going to work for me as I don't expect something like scribblenauts. So these "Localized" demos are perfectly fine to me.

Randy mentions a pinball machine in one of the gamepron clips (saw that coming

im still as pumped as ever for this game, im certainly not doubting it's interactivity, i bet there will be a pool table, and bowling.
I am constantly wondering how far they have gone with that sort of stuff within the game.

Interestingly enough, I ran into a rather lengthy post I made almost a year ago which I forgot about, but it's a really interesting read now that we have seen what DNF looks like today. At the time when I posted this I had no idea what state the DNF game was in, but it turns out I was fairly spot on with my analysis. The thread's main topic was whether DNF's engine would still be viable for 2011: http://forums.duke4.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=34189
Very little of the post was directly related to DNF, but these are the main points I made in that post about DNF and it's content/engine:
1) The engine itself would still be usable for at least another 3 years (though it was posted almost a year ago now)
2) You can add a lot of shader-based effects to keep the engine modern (which is exactly what they've done)
3) The level content is the stuff that would get dated quickly, and it would be pretty hard to fix
I found it an interesting read having played DNF now... but damn... I really did ramble a little in that post, so apologies for anyone that does read it.

From what I've seen (which admittedly isn't much) DNF looks just fine to me. It won't please graphic whores, but it exceeds the expectations of many (mine included) who waited for this game.
The interactivity limitations are a bit of a drag, mainly because people kept using words like "unparalleled" and such in conjunction with it. They were hyping it up to be something akin to real life or that old "Actor" physics demo, but the way you make it sound it's just a lot more DN3D style interactivity, which isn't bad, but it feels like we were promised more. To be fair though, nobody really expected to do things like take the marker and draw on things, etc... it was just wishful thinking. But I'd rather have a shitload of Duke-like limited interactivity than something like five fully-interactive gimmicks per three maps like some games do. And maybe I blew your description out of proportion, I won't completely judge it until I play the game.
The trigger thing kinda sucks, but what do you expect from a game that SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED 11 YEARS AGO? There were hardly any freeform sandbox-style games except for maybe like the first top-down GTAs and Daggerfall. Maybe if the design doc evolved with the engine changes, but 3DR was too focused on graphics (the irony, she stings :3), a sickness many developers suffer from so I can't fault them too much.

Part of me suspects that they're demoing with joypads as opposed to mice/keyboards because joypads can take more abuse and won't get as dirty. (Also you can't CTRL-ALT-DEL and kill the game, then open up Explorer and copy the demo to a flash drive with a joypad.)
Glad to hear about heavy Duke presence, that's what matters most! Good AI is a plus too. :3
Overall I'll still wait for the final consensus but I think I might end up getting the 360 or PS3 version of this game exclusively, all these impressions leave me with the opinion that it will be a great game, but not one worth buying/building a high-end PC for.

Valid points on the aiming, but I doubt we'll see the modding tools released for Duke (at least not at launch) so that doesn't factor in as much for me.

Don't forget about the nude patches for the already naked chicks! :3 Hey, they did it with D3D, why not DNF

Oh, and people were asking about this in one of the forums... the Duke on the main menu IS animated, it appears to be a pre-rendered animation of the high-poly duke nukem model. The edges of the model just looked too smooth to be the in-game model and I don't think it is realtime rendered but that can be deceiving nowadays...

You might be wondering, 'is that spraypaint?!' - yes, yes, I believe it is

EDIT: Having re-read my initial post, it is quite interesting since everything the GBX and 2k guys told me actually ended up being accurate.

That's odd. I just tried it from my iPhone. Seems to work for me on a different network to the one I used to upload it.
