[CONFIRMED] - Rumor(?): Borderlands Studio Reviving Duke Nukem Forever

Many people have jumped on the bandwagon of enthusiasm. I'm happy that the game has a chance to make it out now but I'm not about to jizz all over the place because of a playable demo at a gaming conference. This is that one step farther than it was in 2001 etc, but it still isn't in stores so I'm going to peak at the trailers and such but not get excited until it is officially gold.

DNF is finally finally almost here - feels kinda unreal - and bittersweet. So many time gone by and lost.
But I will hail to the King once more in 2011. Yahoo !!!

From what I understand, you only regenerate the health by working out(lifting weights was mentioned) and attacking/killing enemies. If you sit around
and do nothing, your health will not increase.

Starting off with Duke taking a piss, swearing at aliens, kicking ass, and getting a blowjob from multiple women.
Duke. Is back.
This sounds like too much fun.

I got a feeling that she confirmed autohealing "so you guys don't die too quickly".

Make note all those people worked on Duke Nukem Forever at 3D Realms except for Kristen M Haglund.

Cool, so they are like onsite game dev consultants. Or at least that's what I am getting from the description.

Edit:
Yes, indeed Mr. Green and some of them are quite the veterans on the project like Allen Blum that worked on DNF from they day it started back in 1997 up to 3DR firing its team in May 2009 and apparently again for Triptych Games from June 2009 on.

I don't think anyone paid 3DR, but instead they were forced to give it. I don't know this for a fact, but the Duke IP is most likely the price 3DR had to pay to get out of the lawsuit.

Serves them right though. Even if 3DR did eventually learn from their mistake and delivered DNF themselves, the game industry needs to know that you can't get away with something like that, and that anyone who tries to pull a stunt like developing a single project for 10+ years is going to be punished and that the punishment is going to be severe.

That was exactly my thoughts regarding 3DR.
Explains why so many of the 3DR management are so quiet considering the milestone event of launching DNF.
They got pwnd by the judge/laywers/industry after leeching for so many years.

If Gearbox resumed development in November 2009, they may have finished the Pc version within this time( it being Gold, actually) and may be giving the last polish stages to the console ports. That's why Randy said the game might make it this years.

If it doesn't come out, I'll eat Kaiser's underwear.
No wager on whether it'll be any *good* or not... that's why I'm glad I get to watch this as a Duke fanboy now, with a lot of distance between the game and now. I had mentioned to Randy that it'll be like going back to your childhood stomping grounds. Things are familiar, yet many things changed... and everything looks shorter. I see enough familiar and new that I think it'll be a surreal experience and I can't wait for it no matter how the end product is.

Haha. I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm just being cautious. Of course I don't have the money nor the time for video games right now and not likely in the foreseeable future. I almost would prefer that it takes a good long time to come out.

You didn't miss much. Anything that is worth watching is on Youtube and has been posted on the front page. And once the actual teaser is shown even that stuff will become irrelevant.

(rip from wiki)

Revival
At Penny Arcade Expo 2010 on September 3, 2010, it was announced that development of the game is being continued by Gearbox Software and is going to be released by Take Two Interactive sometime in 2011, one of the developers confirmed in online interview.
Gearbox president Randy Pitchford confirmed his studio were finishing the game since 2009 and 2K Games announced they have the exclusive long-term publishing rights of the IP
-----------------------
So GBS saved DNF's asses.

Well i don't know who the people working on it are but gearbox is probably more reliable for a release then 3dr is so i have a good feeling it will see a release in 2011 like they said. The people on these forums know this stuff better then i do though so I'm probably going to be corrected on many levels

I would like to see a demo before the release so we can find out if it would actually be worth our money.
