When will the trailer be released? They said it would be released later today on the 2K website, right?

They said it would be released late. I don't know about later today...we'll see I guess.

A bit off-topic but I found this interesting:

Quote

Did you work on Duke Nukem at 3DRealms?

I did. In fact, I worked on the Atomic Edition. I also worked a little bit on Duke Nukem Forever. It went through a number of engines. I actually worked on a version back when it was still the build engine.

I think somewhere they said tomorrow, not sure. :D
And they said it will be on the dnf website.

Am I the only one who still gets directed to a godaddy page when going to either dukenukem.com or dukenukemforever.com?

Holy sh1t, it's hard to believe that after all these years Duke Nukem Forever will see the light of day, well I guess we'll find out in 2011 if it's going to released... or delayed again\cancelled.

A massive duke match would be nice in celebration of the return of the king.

This is the final unveiling that we've been waiting for all this time. DNF is finally going to see release! It's also great to see that it will make it to such a broad range of platforms. I didn't expect that it would be on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Duke Nukem is back! :D

Late to the party today (I had to work when all this was going down) but I am absolutely happy!!! :D

What is weird though, is that I seem to get a sense of when something big like this is about to happen. I didn't know why, but a week ago all of a sudden I had a strong interest in this game again after 7 years, and that is when I thought to join this forum. I had no idea that it was actually imminant, I thought I would just go about and discuss old Duke. It seems I tend to show up when something big is gonna go down. :D

I could not be happier! Duke is happening the way it should. As fans we no longer have to take shit from the rest of the gaming community because DNF is coming out... and it's kicking everyones ASS!!

Hail to the king baby. Congrats to everyone our gaming idol is returning. :D

Shacknews has a hands-on preview of Duke Nukem Forever. Check it out here.

Also, a small observation. No one anywhere seems happy about the 2 weapon thing. You think if everyone complains enough they'll change it back to this? Posted Image

I hope so. Its not a deal breaker for me, but it seems like it goes against the gears of what makes Duke, Duke.. That is being oldschool and over the top.

Sweet, but i'm still not thrilled about only carrying 2 weapons at a time.

Yeah realism is lame. I get enough of that in real life. T_T I hope they change it back to the original method.

I don't think people should complain about carrying only two weapons unless they have spent a lot of time with the game (not just a 15 minute demo). It's not just a question of realism, it's something that has a big impact on level design. Limiting the player to 2 weapons at a time gives the level designers more control over the gameplay experience, which could be either good or bad, depending on other factors we don't know about.

Wow....didn't think they'd stoop that far. That's a little too far for my tastes. I HATE the 2 weapon thing. HATE HATE HATE. The auto health regen thing I can take, but having only two weapons reaks of Halo style gameplay for both game "features". And this is not Halo...this is Duke. The thing about it is we don't get to inflict as much damage as we'd like....in all the ways we'd want to. Now we know for sure that only certain areas of the game will force you to use certain weapons which means you can't use all weapons in every area. That's a pretty big letdown for the giver of destruction that is Duke without even playing the game.

Still, we'll see how it plays eventually...

Im going to complain. The game should not have this mechanic. Its a crappy mechanic for a character like Duke. I can take everything else GBX is doing, but the two weapons thing just sucks ass.

and the hope is if we complain about it enough they'll change it, right? :D

i dunno, it stops hoarding and makes you want to explore areas that bit more to see if there could be a devastator hiding somewhere, stops you relying on the best gun avail and more about the best gun you have. pistol is something you always have and makes you use it more, lets face it in d3d if you had ammo for any other weapon you didnt use the pistol.

Also in multi they could make it so you could be seen carrying the 2 weapons, I am really not to fussed about it, it plays out like an action movie, No brooding emo dickhead for a main character, and plenty of interaction from the looks of things :D

It wasnt a problem in Duke3D.

DanM makes a very valid point in GearBox's defense. The only reason I still don't agree with it is because, this is DUKE and DUKE is about big weapons and lots of them and explosions. He's always bristling with enough weapons to make an NRA member blush, when they see his big gun.

The game could still be fun with the mechanic, it's just very un-Duke-like to me. It screams modern FPS so if that's what they wanna go for then I guess give the market what they want, since they wanna make money off the mainstream rather than just us Diehard Dukers.

Hey, would it be considered extreme to call that DNF reveal live stream, THE WORST and most amateurish piece of broadcast ever to be made by human kind?
Would I also be extreme if I said that I hated that arrogant high pitched, loud mouth fat geek of a presenter?
She was terrible and she managed to annoy me just for existing and living on the same planet as I am. I won't even go into details about how much she annoyed me with her style of fake enthusiasm and her high pitched voice always yelling and being so confused and exaggerating all the time about various shit that nobody seemed to care for...
But the worst anger that this stream has produced me aside from the OBVIOUSLY broken microphone, was that FUCKING RETARDED CAMERAMAN.
Did anybody else notice how he fucking managed to avoid every single little interesting thing in that demo while he filmed people playing demos?
I was literally going WTF every 5 seconds when I saw how he was FUCKING spinning in one foot with his gay ass motherfucking low quality camera.
That mother fucker did not care AT ALL about DNF. I could even hear his thoughts saying. "Omfg at all these ugly nerds here playing this piece of shit game.
Why the fuck do I have to film this shit game and why the fuck is all this commotion for a videogame?"
Man I seriously lost weight and years of sanity because of how much that stream managed to piss me off!

Well of course it's a modern FPS, we didn't wait 15 years to get a really nice HRP for classic Duke. If we want classic Duke gameplay, that's what the old game (and mods thereof) are for.

I'm not saying it's necessarily a good thing to be limited to 2 weapons at a time, but we shouldn't reject it just because it doesn't conform to our old concept of Duke.

A real badass just takes what he needs, he doesn't encumber himself with everything he can find like a neurotic packrat. And it's not just a realism issue, it has to do with his image. I'm guessing that the player model will show whatever Duke is carrying, in which case having a large number of weapons would look ridiculous. Even so, two weapons does seem like a very strict limit, but when you consider all the things he has to be able to do while carrying them (crawl around in vents, sprint, jump, fondle babes) it starts to sound reasonable.

What would NOT be cool is if you frequently encounter situations where you picked the wrong two weapons, then you have to run back through the level and find weapons you dropped. But that's a level design, issue, and hopefully they know what they're doing.
