Do you know where I can find nice explosion animations (gif) or frames  "Big one I mean."

I'm trying to find large explosion especially fire clouds or mushroom clouds.
One I saw are incomplete (stops before it ends) when I've searched animated gifs.

Any1 has cool explosion, (animated gif or frames)
Preferable size 256 pixels and up.

I'm making a very cool effect.
I have the shockwaves (expanding one like Oblivion) but cant find good explosions :P

Sadly explosion aren't type I'm after.
I need what makes mushrooms not the firework or air explosion that doesn't make mushrooms.
I checked new explosions etc.

As for ur mod
Btw I didn't knew we can use over 8bit color sprites I.e explosions etc.

Would be cool making duke all over 8 bit color even textures etc.

PS
as for explosions I'll probably do my way,
Take the screenies of each frames of a movie clip with an explosion.

I don't learn stuff like is genetically programmed in me.

I learn from seeing it.

I knew the skybox had jpeg based color since I first saw it years ago.

For the sprites thing I learned it when I saw DT's mod
I haven't play other mods in a while because I was busy with RL stuff. RL comes before games.
I couldn't play duke for 1/4 of a year when my comp died out and have to use an unstable comp that wouldn't accept duke for a quarter a year until I got a new one.

32 bits duke is still very new to me.
I am sure the 32bit color sprites works as same as the skybox........................................ I think.

Yes, you define those in the .def file.

Take a look here for more info and syntax

Imagine if the .DEF file becomes more advance in the future and accepts mp3 files instead of oggs etc.
Many mods becomes 32-64bits jpeg based color and duke 100% realistic would be badass

What's wrong with oggs?

Most mods these days ARE using 32bit art work. Heck, what do you think the HRP is?

MP3's would require us to pay for a license, or risk potential legal trouble. It's just easier to avoid it and use something open like OGG, which generally has higher quality output than MP3 anyway. Just convert the files using Audacity if nothing else.

Also I won't lock this thread (and am too lazy to merge), but from now on post questions pertaining to your mod in the thread for your mod.

Also Shadow Warrior has a pretty stellar mushroom cloud you could rip.

If u write your own mp3 it shouldn't be a problem.
So maybe sticking to OGG or wav (takes more space)

In general, it's a good thing to look to look for games and mods from the DOOM or BUILD engines for sourcing. Captain Awesome taught me that.

False. It's absolutely nowhere near worth the effort to write an "EDuke32 MP3 Codec", and I'm pretty sure that the MP3 format itself is constricted by licensing.

OGG Vorbis has numerous advantages: GPL, open source, capability for looping, much higher encoding quality for space.

I still request FLAC support, which has all of OGG's advantages, and would help get us to a point of capability for 100% faithful replication of SW and Blood.

I found a nice explosion video. Actually is a youtube vid of some ppl exploding a propane tank at night and makes a beautiful and perfect shroom of fire.
(original video) http://www.youtube.c...h?v=5KpSRmouzh4

I took screenies of each frames and probably have to photoshop to get rid of this blue line at the beginning.

Bugger. I was actually working on a nuclear explosion gif recently... I ended up trashing it because it didn't go for the full length of the explosion. It was a really nice real mushroom cloud that went up but the animation stopped before the cloud dissipated, so it looked kinda odd and abrupt. Might still have it though, if you're interested. It's a lot of frames however (I can't be sure but something like 100 :P ). I also have a number of explosion animations I ported from Freespace 2, like such;

The frames themselves are all properly configured DDS files that allow Eduke32 to automatically make the black sections transparent (since PNG doesn't seem to support this, DDS is all I could find that worked right).

Majority of shrooms I have found always end before it vanishes but that propane explosion is true perfection.

PS ur explosion is nice.
Good for something exploding in the air.

That doesn't look half bad, if you can upload the DDS files easily without troubling yourself too much, I would appreciate it.

After spending hours making the explosion fit into duke it works.
Makes a very tall mushroom of fire that fade, makes a shockwave destroys almost 20% of the whole level's forest, You'll see when is finished is a very crazy trick with tons of con modification.

That's nice.

End thread.

P.S.
Don't start another thread like this again. Post all questions related to content you want/need for your mod in the thread for you mod.
