This one has less to do with Duke3D as originally released, and more about a specific intermission (digitized) sound track file used in two old TCs for Duke3D.

When it comes to such TCs, most people had probably got to hear that intermission track in Duke meets Doom, as of writing this. Last 2+ years, I also discovered its use in an old multiplayer-centered mod, the Duke Nukem PaintBall 2 TC. The file bonus.voc as present in the archive pbduke2.zip had the timestamp of "1995-12-16 03:37:32", but looks like the original source was from 1996.

With the assistance of SongFinder, I think that I've finally found out its origin:
