This one's an actual HRP package that you can just drop in autoload. It also has all the latest HRP update content.

Though I initially had some problems, I finally managed to get the latest eDuke32 running with the latest Duke Plus and the polymer pack.
But... Well it's certainly good, but it seems like it's only half there. In the in-game menus, I have every video setting set the maximum, so it should be better.
I've seen screenshots that look considerably better than my gameplay, and apparently there were bloom effects for the HRP back in 2006 - so why can I not get any ?
Other things I've noticed are the lack of shadows, and the way many textures are still 'matt' instead of glossy (such as bathroom tiles and toilets, for example)
Am I missing something obvious here or has something not been done right ?
Just to summarise that in one line - how can I turn on bloom, shadows and glossy/reflective textures ?
P.S. Oh I just remembered - in the first level, the tarmac next to the skip on fire is nice and shiny. But for some reason the bathroom and toilets aren't.
Nothing like the demo video ()

A. Haven't ticked the POLYMER box on the start up window.
B. Your PC doesn't support Polymer.
C. You screwed up the install of the Polymer HRP.
D. You actually installed the normal HRP and not the Polymer HRP.
E. You screwed something else up.
But we can't tell you anything else unless you attach your "eduke32.log"
Also, the bloom your going on about was using a crappy Doom3 hack that doesn't even work right with EDuke32 and should not be used.
And this should be in the "Random questions, bug reports, "help me" threads and other unexciting things" sub thread.

Hi,
A. Polymer is ticked
B. Not sure what other games use polymer, but my PC is a fairly new, high-end one that has no problem playing most new games in high quality graphics... so I can't see why it wouldn't be capable of this.
C. I installed the polymer HRP exactly as it said on the website, so that can't be wrong
D. No, it was the polymer package. I can definaterly see the difference compared to the HRP - the light have their aura around them, and there are simple shadows, but not all of them. And only half the textures have the siny look they should have.
E. Possibly, but I don't know what...
Here's the attached eDuke32 log if that helps.
Seems to have a gazillion error messages, but I don't know why. I downloaded the most recent eDuke32, and installed the polymer package exactly how it said on the website. And it does half-work, it just doesn't seem to be all there....

So what you are seeing is perfectly normal (asuming you do get shadows in the first map and some textures are nomral mapped).
Edit: Or as you put it it is only half there. Infact I would say we are only 1% or less there yet.

Hmm that's funny because I didn't download or install it, I've only heard of it mentioned and saw it in a video.
OK so I take it that the game quality we see in the polymer demo videos is as of yet unreleased ? So it's normal I'm still getting mostly matt textures and only half the shadows seen in the video ?

So if you have the Polymer HRP installed correctly, the only map you are going to see with lights is E1L1.
But because your log didn't even show you loading a level I can't tell if you have the map hacks installed.
And you really need to take a screenshot of what you mean with this "matt textures and only half the shadows"

OK, sure - here's a screenshot I found on the net : http://plagman.net/s...10_renderer.png
Here are three from mine. Of which there was a further unexpected thing. For some reason half the effects got turned off after pressing the widnows key to paste my screenshot in paint and returning, so I loaded level 1 again for each screenshot. Loaded the level without restarting duke.
As you can see 2 screenshots in the bathroom show first, nothing much, then pretty resemblant the reference screenshot... wtf ?
Well can't complain. Still funny how the tiles on the right side don't reflect on my game.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u216/Tw...thoddan/dn1.jpg --> this bit always works fine
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u216/Tw...thoddan/dn2.jpg --> batthroom looks pretty bog-standard here
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u216/Tw...thoddan/dn3.jpg --> next time I load the level (not the entire game, just the level - I didn't close anything) , it's mostly all there. Weird. Funny how the tiles aren't shiny on the right though.
It seems to work 'when it wants to' ... ah well this is still way better than before - good luck with the project

Plagman's screenshot, the walls are shiny because of a hack that he made at the time he took the picture. It will be available soon.
Also, you press F12 to take a picture... Not the print screen button.
I can't tell if it's the crappy conversion of the picture, but go to your video options in EDuke32 and set the texture filterer it on Trilinear (makes it look less grainy imo) and make sure the Texture Quality is on high and 16X Anisotropy.
