Fluidsynth support?  "Midi with fluidsynth?"

As i use the OSS4 sound system in linux and not ALSA i haven't been able to get midi playback working. It's not that big of a deal you have .oggs of the music instead. But as WGR 2 will use midi i would like to be able to use it too.
So my question is: Is there anyway you can use fluidsynth with eduke32? I've manage to get it to work with scummVM (as it is built in) and hacked some OSS4 midioutput into DosBox to get it to work there.
I tried to look at the midi code for eduke to see if i should do what i did with dosbox but as i'm not good at programing i couldn't make out what the code did
