The Coronavirus a/k/a COVID-19 corner.

The current dominant strain is far more contagious than the original, I don't understand why it took them so long to get people vaccinated there if they are so willing to be extreme about virus prevention.

For whatever reason the government has been slow getting enough into the country. Age 30 and over only just today allowed to book a vaxination. NZ only has 5 million people.

Anyone intelligent wanna comment on this?

Less than a third of delta variant deaths are in the unvaccinated.

Let me say that another way - two-thirds of Delta deaths in the UK are in the jabbed.

To be specific:

From the 1st of February to the 2nd of August, the UK recorded 742 Delta deaths (yes, the dreaded Delta has not taken that much life).

Out of the 742 deaths, 402 were fully vaccinated. 79 had received one shot. Only 253 were unvaccinated.

given,

Attached Image: _120078531_optimised-uk_vax_by_age_19aug-nc2.png
the more vulnerable demographic is at least 80% vaccinated.
54% or 65% of the deaths were to those vaccinated.

for comparison 34% of the deaths were of unvaccinated,
compared to 20% unvaccinated in the vulnerable group.
Attached Image: Screenshot_20210825-072521.png
we can see here total deaths have decreased.

the unvaccinated in that vulnerable age range could be more
willing to still self isolate vs. the vaccinated group.
and a stronger immunity due to getting the virus already could also have taken place in the unvaccinated group.

either way it shows the steps we are taking have been effective against delta given the massive reduction in total deaths

What has been the ratio of vaccinated/unvaccinated people in the overall population during that time?

Also, the delta variant is mostly dreaded as "easier to spread", but it is considered less lethal from what I've been reading - which seems like quite a natural evolution the virus would take.

Here's the full data if anyone wants to check it out: https://assets.publi...Briefing_21.pdf

Things that stuck out to me: Total cases 386K, total deaths 742, mortality rate 0.3%, the latter which is similar to the flu. Unvaxxed mortality rate is even lower, at 0.2%.

Enjoy your new lockdowns!

I've always been anti-lockdown and I'm pretty skeptical about masking mandates (though I think businesses and institutions have the right to impose them, just like imposing dress codes). But, I do think BoSF makes a good point above. The people who are fully vaxxed are disproportionally in high risk groups who are older and/or have comorbidities. Likewise, we can expect the completely unvaxxed on average to be in lower risk groups. Therefore, since the vaccines provide diminished protection against the delta variant its not surprising that there would still be more deaths among the vaccinated.

Also I thought flu mortality was around 0.1% not 0.3%.

Yeah, 0.1-0.2%. Similar I said.

Agreed, BoSF made a good point.

I'll tell you what it is, at least in Mexico. Government not having the willingness to spend money on buying vaccines instead of paying the pet projects of the president and depending on handouts from other nations. Also corruption that leads to vaccines to be "lost" and sold on the black market. Add to that a heavy dose of bureaucracy, government department politics and people being not good at their job/lazy for the perfect shit storm.

I imagine some countries have a similar problem.

Groups exempt to the vaccines forced into? Those who had Covid, religious and children. I'm sure the next variant will have scientific data for them to get the shot also. Pfizer is a gold mine for decades to come.

Its pathetic that the main way of complaining about youtube censorship is to make more youtube videos about the censorship.

In the interest of honesty (for I am an honest futa orc), I wanna say that I got vaccinated with the J&J vaccine a little over two weeks ago and have had no symptoms of any adverse effects whatsoever.

Clear missed opportunity from Gearbox not to have tinfoil hats for sale with a little Nuke logo on it.

After mandating vaccination, plans are in place for mandating public display for compliance.

So far, my biggest loss due to covid are those I thought were liberty conscientious. Vaccines have their place in medicine, no doubt. But actually, clamouring to fire people for not getting vaccinated is, well, medical dictatorship. Oh well. :dukepuke:

Vaccinated will wear an armband over the area where they got the shot. The non-vaccinated will be forced to wear patches shaped like the virus.

^ Perhaps. Methinks, the electronic vaxxi passport, via your phone shows much more promises and is far more sinister, since it can assure compliance for the covid-79-omega shot, in 2079, and beyond. Keep in mind, pharmaceuticals want repeat customers and covid may not just die out, using the common cold and flu as prime examples.

One of the side effects of the vax I took is tinnitus apparently, lol. Constant ringing in your ears. Considering nearly everyone I know who got it, had something, I consider myself lucky. Then again who knows if I'm still fertile. Just couldn't live like this anymore, not being able to go anywhere. Work had an offsite that I couldn't get out of, and everyone there is a normie. I pretend IRL that I agree with all the nonsense. You can't convince idiots. Like it's 50/50 "these vaccines were not properly tested" and "this sets a horrible precedent" for me. Also there is no unanimous fucking consensus among scientists about literally any of this shit. Not the lockdowns, not the masks, not the vaccines. For the first time in my life I was compelled to accept a medical procedure so I could "live like a normal person". I waited as long as I reasonably could, but I'm not gonna get fired over this shit. Right now every company in my field (where I live) requires proof of vaccine, or a recent test. But the thing with the tests is, people find out and start spreading rumors that you're an anti-vaxxer.
